Interesting that in the days before this fight, oddsmakers had Joyce about an 80-1 favorite.

Since yesterday's weigh-in, Joyce has dropped to as low as 25-1 on many lines.

What exactly was it about his weight that convinced gamblers that Stiverne has a chance?

Overs/unders line on the fight is 3.5 rounds.

Unless Joyce feels totally unthreatened early and decides to sleepwalk for a few rounds, this should be over by the 2nd.

Ya think a body attack by Joyce might pay quick dividends?

If he gets blown out in one, it does nothing for Joyce. Stiverne has made himself a pariah in this fight. All this does is make more time go by for Joyce's development and upward movement. 273 LBS of lazy unmotivated arse. Joyce's team better make a really good matchup in his next outing. There's no benefit for Joe at all, IMHO.
Joyce has already read he expects it to go 6-8 rounds. But knows the public expect a quick one.. so cuz he’s said upto 8 rounds, when he does finish it quicker, he’d have beaten his own prediction.
Doesn't matter if he beats his prediction, in which he gave himself a massive amount of lattitude. My question is this. How will Joyce be able to carry Stiverne for any amount of time while Stiverne is merely looking for a place to lay down from the onset? No benefit for Joe.

Good win for Joyce!! Very patient and took some good shots with his tough chin.

At his age do you think his handlers will try to get Joe a world title shot before 2019 is over?

They better hurry up before he loses to someone who can box.

Yeah, his gameplan wouldn't work on world level guys and also seen the fight with Uysk in WBS where he was schooled.

I think Joe backed off a little after the 3rd-round knockdown in order to get some rounds in. Maybe Jarrell Miller would be a better workout for Joyce after he gets smoked by AJ.

Joyce needs to stay as far away from Usyk as possible. The one exception might possibly be a unification bout IF they both happen to win world titles way down the road. Even then Abel Sanchez would have a massive job trying to prepare Joe for someone as technically superior as Usyk.

Why would they put a raw guy like Joyce in with a seasoned Usyk?

Doesn't Joyce now get a title shot (regular version, of course) against Charr?

He's much more beatable than Usyk.

He's not fighting Usyk anytime soon and maybe never, unless Joyce can somehow and miraculously learn something new and get quicker at age 33.

Beg to differ. Miller is a crude brawler. Granted, Joyce would have to be MUCH more cautious than he was in tonight's walkover vs fatboy Stiverne. Once he tasted a few hard shots in the 1st round from Stiverne I really think Joe threw defense out the window because knew fatso couldnt hurt him.

IMO if Joe Joyce cannot outbox a crude brawler like Jarrell Miller then he is probably not world championship material.

He beats Charr. But Charr hasn't really done much in the last 5 years, except wear that belt to hold up his pants.

Joyce ain't ready for Miller.

Agree 100%. Charr is the best road to a "world title" at HW but most folks consider him a paper champ.

It was a good win but he can't get anything else then some good paydays and thats it.

Among other things this era is starting to get real good.

But he needs to fight Ortiz so we can get a real test of his abilities.

He always looks so stiff...

Ortiz would expose everything that's wrong with Joyce. Too savvy and can still hit.

Meh...I've been pretty convinced that Joyce is too limited for a long while. He hasn't gotten any better or any different since turning pro. He just went 6 rounds with a Stiverne who was worse than the one that Wilder took out in one round x years ago. That really says a lot.

I think Joyce already have done that himself. Would be a good lesson for him, I think. But would never happen, Haye is smart enough to give him guys with winning records and go for that secondgrade wba-strap.
