agree, its like they werent actually watching the fight and just automatically run with the 'price trainwreck' stuff....ali was badly hurt and they tumbled because he had no legs and needed to hold on. it was so obvious why the tackle came when it did, right after ali had been shaken to dem boots

and its true price was starting to get hit more , but whats the most hurt or tired he ever looked? i think its been really exaggerated with the trouble ppl are saying he was in. he had won pretty much every round and then badly hurt ali

Kash Ali getting banned was the lead story in the sports section of a news burst I heard on the radio earlier.

There was no mention of the two excellent fights on the same card or the four lads involved in them.

Sums up boxing coverage in this country.

Price had the fight under control, but the last round ali was hitting him more than any other round. No one knows for sure but that could have been the turning point. I'm very surprised Ali didnt have a game plan knowing that Price tires after 3 or 4 rounds. Ali could have taken the shots like he did until Price started to be less effective. Price is leagues ahead of Ali but Price is very suspect around the chin area, Ali should have used his head rather than his mouth and thought about a game plan to use. He was lacking in experience but im very surprised his team hadnt worked out a strategy for Ali to follow. Its simple really, 'keep hands up for 3 or 4 rounds, let Price tire, and have a go after 4 or 5 rounds.' All Ali needed to do is keep away from a big right hand and frustrate Price by just moving around and trying to get the jab in while avoiding his big right.

Ali obviously thought he was better than he was beating 15 poor rated fighters before. He went into the fight acting like a pudendum and ended the fight like a pudendum too.

Any idea why Price gasses so quickly? He was blowing by the third round and was hardly fighting at a brisk pace. It appeared that he was on the point of unravelling.
Ali will be kicking himself for losing his head like that.
very likely nervous energy.

Its not just Price it happens too, I was speaking with a pro who said that on occasions they are fit as fornicate and really looking forward to the fight, then when the first bell goes there seems to be a leakage in the fuel tank. Its almost like the energy has gone before they fight, even though they have trained so hard. Maybe too before the fight on the pads etc in the changing room. Maybe putting too much in before the fight especially if you are due on at a certain time but maybe a hour late to get on.

We all get nervous or excited and once adrenaline starts flowing thats sapping up your energy bank.

Great post :TU:

James Toney wasn’t always in the best shape (understatement!) but he was always so relaxed in the ring and I feel that helped him conserve energy navigate the distance on many occasion.,

good points, but if anything at the end the fight turned more against ali, he was seriously hurt and hence the tackle. it didnt really look like a guy about to win in the next few rounds, if he could even last through those (which he didnt as he melted down immediately)

i do think ali came out not too aggressive and like he was looking to come on, which he did to an exaggerated extent, he just wasnt up to the level

I'm not saying Price wasn't in control at the time of the DQ, I'm saying he looked terrible against a terrible fighter. He is so very vulnerable in there that I can't say I'd favor him over Browne and/or Allan at this point.

You may be completely correct. Price's lack of gas will, not can, get him into a world of hurt against a Browne, and I believe the same for Allan at this point. You don't have to be a bomber to KO the delicate Price.

i mean price may well lose to them, but stuff that him fighting either is out of line or shouldnt be allowed is pure madness

you cant just focus on his limitations......look at theres too. browne beat soko by 1 point (price shut him out) and is 40 and maybe not on his drugs anymore, and allen couldnt even beat a clubfighter chinnier then price and his best win is over a guy no better then ali

i would hardly be shocked if for example crude old open browne got caught and stopped

He can do whatever he wants, I'm just stating my opinion that he will probably be wholloped by both. Maybe Price should take on Allen in the WWE, which is where Allen wants to go after boxing.

maybe he will but i dont know why people only focus on his limitations, browne and allen are pretty mediocre . price has never lost to anyone as bad as lenny thomson for example and browne couldve easily lost that decision vs soko and has been knocked out worse then price ever has

It seems to me that Pricey is a faded fighter. He is more vulnerable than ever. I really thought he was going to take out Ali cleanly and earlier than four rounds. He just looked so gassed and unable to turn it up. I do believe he would have won regardless of the DQ, but man, it was painful to watch.

it was painful, but tbh with browne/allen/price painful to watch is pretty much the routine outing. like browne vs soko (or whyte for really painful lol) or allen in a gruelling slug fest vs that fat argentinian guy

I managed to watch this today and i have a feeling that Price was going to get stopped again as he was fading and against the ropes taking shots at times, the same old story again

I think Price is one more loss away from retiring. Price wants the big ending I feel, I just hope its not the ending we all dread.

Maybe a shot at the British title and call it a day if he got beat.

There were moments I thought Kash was going to have him, but as soon as Price landed a strong right near the end, Kash cashed it in.

Maybe the nervousness/anxiety is exaggerated now because perhaps he is aware of just how more vulnerable he gets as the rounds go by.
It really is a shame that he seems to have lost the self belief and confidence he had when he was the British champ. He seldom throws the straight right with any conviction anymore, even though that punch would level 95% of heavyweights around.

In reality anyone in a street fight lasts around 2 minutes then they are buggered. 2 minutes does not seem a great length of time but in a fight or flight situation your body uses more energy as more blood is flowing to the muscles to make you stronger, to defend your life, in an animalistic way. Ive also come across this in people who have had an epileptic fit. They tend to fit for about 2 or 3 minutes then have to sleep or relax to recover. They have used so much energy in that fit im not an expert on that fact so cannot give an explanation.

When I boxed amateur (admittedly briefly) I found that no matter how fit I was I would gas in sparring after only the first round. However in actual bouts this didn’t happen. I was always more nervous for sparring than for bouts. I must be an oddball.

Nah, when you were sparring you were probably "in your head" more trying to apply stuff you learned at the gym. In a bout, you turn off your head so to speak. I get it. Some fighters can't turn it off and get tight like Tommy Morrison. He'd expend so much nervous energy. Same for young George Foreman.

Ali had taken 1 too many pre workouts or something...... that's for sure. Seemed very on it with all the short's rubbing. I think too many people are really negative about big Pricey these days with his fragilities. Yes he's at a low level these days but I thought he fought very well against a guy who's used to being a durable sparring partner. Price won every round whilst not blowing himself out, and had Ali hurt before the dq. Yeah he looked a bit tired but nowhere near the gassed levels like we've seen in the past and no more tired than his opponent. I think the Browne vs Allen winner is the perfect next fight and the right sort've level which is probably his ceiling these days but he'd have a live chance against Browne or Allen in my opinion.

It'd odd ain't it. He clearly still has the tools. Nice footwork, even the odd shoulder roll, okay jab. Problem is, it doesn't matter how much power you possess, he so rarely let that right hand go, so wouldn't get the KO
