Ah well it was as expected, there might've been a slight chance going in that Lomachenko might carry Crolla for few rounds before getting to work but he didn't fvck about, from the off he was right on Crolla putting pressure on, not so much with the punches, the first 2 rounds were probably won on 2 bursts of punches alone but it was the feet of Lomachenko that was suffocating Crolla who clearly wasn't comfortable, Lomachenko was on him like a rash and kept cornering him and when he did throw hands the shots were coming from every angle, the jabs, right hook, straight left, back with a jab, laser like accuracy and he hurt Crolla to the body a couple of times

Jack Reiss got a lot of props for Wilder/Fury fight but he made an arse of this in the 3rd round, Crolla clearly hurt on the ropes, legs stiffened, not throwing back, he should've either left it or stopped it, the standing count was wrong, I couldn't see the ropes keep Crolla up, I was happy for Crolla to get another crack as he didn't look totally done just yet but the writing was on the wall

Lomachenko showed his class and devil early in the 4th and completely overwhelmed Crolla with lightening quick combinations from every angle imaginable, short little right hook for the finish looked a "nothing" shot but it completely iced Crolla and he looked in a bad way initially

Gutted for Crolla, he never won a second apart from landing a decent body shot in the 2nd I think it was but Lomachenko was outstanding and looked in the mood

Good for Crolla, he made $300 us dollars and additional money from Sky..

Hope he's saved well in his career.

He should fight once more IMO in Manchester. Call it a farewell fight. Maybe November time?

The Sky Sports commentary team Spencer Oliver and Darren Barker were disappointed with how referee Jack Reiss handled the bout - insisting he did not protect mandatory challenger Crolla enough.

Oliver said: “Yeah, he should’ve stopped it in the previous round.

“It wasn’t just one or two unanswered punches, it was 20-odd unanswered punches.

“The referees are there to protect the fighters and Crolla was in trouble. That was a bad knockout.

“We have witnessed brilliance here. What he has demonstrated there was incredible.

“But the referee should have pulled it then. There was no urgency whatsoever from the referee to stop the fight at the end of the third round.

“He landed a left hook and that made Crolla’s legs stiffen and that is when it should have been stopped there because he wasn’t coming back.

“The referee jumped in and Crolla wasn’t coming back.

“I don’t care what anybody says but that fight should have been stopped there and then.

“It was bad refereeing. He had given him the count and the inevitable was going to happen.

“The fight was won then and there.”

Crolla: I Don't Want To Go Out Like That But The End is Near

"My pride is a bit hurt, my team put so much effort in with me," Crolla told Sky Sports.

"I'm a bit gutted. I lost to a special fighter, I just wanted to give a better account of myself, but he hit me with a great shot. It's the first time I've been hit like that. As I went down I knew as frustrating as it was, I wasn't going to beat the 10 count, my senses went everywhere.

"I'm just gutted, I got in the best shape of my life and for it to end like that and as early as it did, very gutting.

"I knew how his balance was and his feet, he's very hard to hit, I thought he was very good at angles, he's a fantastic fighter.

"I don't know, I'm going to have some time to think about it. I wouldn't really want to go out like that but I've banged on about staying in boxing too long.

"I love this sport, it's a big part of my life but I've not got much left now, so we'll see whether we've got one more later in the year.

"I'll speak with the team, maybe back in Manchester, I don't know. I had a fantastic camp and I felt brilliant, so it's very disappointing.

"I don't want to go out like that but the end is near."

He’s been around forever and been in some good fights though. Your right he’s a solid all rounder but this looks like the end. Will they try match him with Campbell or Coyle or feed him to someone else...

The first Linares fight was competitive. His win over Yordan was a good result, he's been hanging around the top 20 for years.

Good win over Burns too who, yeah, past his best, but it wasnt that long before the Crolla fight when he beat Relikh whose gone on to win a world title so he's still a good scalp.

For me hes a solid, top ten, world level fighter. Not spectacular, theres nothing id say he excels at, but like I said, he's a good all rounder.

I know it says about Sky money in some reports but what money? I don't see where it would come from. Not many will have been watching that and it wasn't ppv. Don't see there being too much at all. The 300k usd is a decent gross purse though.

True - about £225k but he has got to pay expenses then 40% tax on what’s left.

Still a lot of money, but not the £millions people might think boxers earn for the top level fights.

The second bout was more dominant by Linares, who tbf, was on a roll and had not lost in a while.
Your right the first fight was close my bad.

Loma is so good most of his fights will be mis matches. Tank will get mullered and I fancy Loma would do a job on Garcia as well. We should just appreciate how good he is

No he doesn’t.

Glad you are not my accountant

But on the other point, it’s a decent bit of wedge to retire on.

UK TV rights.

All matchroom boxers have contracts with Sky too I think, but Matchroom is contracted with Sky. So Sky showing the fight, doesn't matter about viewership numbers or non-ppv. They'll earn extra.. I don't know how much, but he will..

Quigg's official purse against Valdez was $100k according to the Cali SAC.. But he received around $500k plus even more money for British television rights.

Lucky for him, when he was fined 20% of his purse for missing weight, it was 20% of the $100k purse.

Lomachenko believes he fractured his hand while delivering the final knockout punch and wanted the fight to be stopped earlier when he trapped Crolla on the ropes at the end of the third round.

So had the fight been stopped when it should have, his hand would have been ok!!!

FUUUUUUUUUU Jack Reiss!! :bag:

I only realised what day it was on on the day, thought it was tonight too. It was even more sided than I expected, v heavy knockdown at the end. One more (winnable) fight for Crolla in Manchester as a farewell and then call it quits I think. He's done much, much better than his earlier performances indicated that he could do and he should go out proud.

Any news on how bad the hand is? A shame he comes back from shoulder surgery and breaks his hand on the last punch of the fight. He is extraordinary though, isn't he. Crolla was absolutely gutted at his performance, but you can't blame him when he was in with such a great fighter. Hoping Crolla gets one more shot at a good-bye fight and goes out on a high note. Seems a great guy.

He can fill out the Manchester Arena, his local.

It will need to be a name fighter though.

Most expected it to go past 5..

I think we all expected more from Crolla, including himself. He's all heart.

TBH there was nothing more he could do or try.

Crolla has become Loma's quickest victim..

His first pro bout also ended in round 4, but after 2:55.
