Maybe but if I was his trainer I'd tell him get in close, rough him up, deny him space and leverage for those long arms. Keep covered up while closing the range and use head movement1. Don't just close in straight lines try to vary your approach .
Whether all that is within his capabilites is another question.

You mean change his entire fighting style? Then it wouldn't be Dominic Breazeale.

I rewatched AJ v Braezeale and it cannot be overemphasized how easy it was for AJ to hit him at will.
You put that in with Wilder’s power, which is still under appreciated, and it’s going to be a very short night for the Californian.

Not change it. Try to make the best of it. Not saying it'll be easy or even achievable but if he stands off he's likely to get used for target practice.

I believe it to be, yes.
I believe him to be one of the all time great heavyweight bangers on par with Foreman, Shavers, etc.

Other than Ortiz, who else has he knocked out that hasn't been finished by someone else?

Oh please Josh. Even his detractors know he's a huge hitter.

Yeah,I don't rate wilder much at all
Bad technique,lack of fundamentals
But he punches like a horse kicks...
There's one thing wilder has,an that's power!

Fair points. Although I believe he's more effective then most give him credit for.

I do rate his power. I just think there was just a bit of hyperbole in the statement about putting him in with Foreman and Shavers as one of the all time greatest heavy hitters.

Only thing I thought he done good was that pawing body Jab in the fury fight,a sort of distance gauger before firing the right, other than that boxing wise I think he's pretty poor....
But at HW,when you're that awkward & that powerful you are ALWAYS in with a chance, always

Got it. Yeah, that may be a reach, especially with his career not yet done. Especially Shavers. Damn that boy could smack. Purest one punch KO HW I've ever seen.

Wilder can hit,but no way can he hit like shavers

Ron Lyle said when he got hit by Shavers it was as if the ring canvass came up to meet him!

Good points, all.
I think it’s one of those things that will be just taken as near fact in 10- 15 years that Wilder was one of those top pure punching guys.
Like everyone knows now Ray Mercer had one of the best chins of all time, but not everyone wanted to put him on that top, top level at the time, while he was fighting.
His lack of overall elite fundamentals only highlights just what a pure puncher he is.

No question, but he has a ton of leverage. Shavers was short for his day and lacked wilders stamina. Then again, Ernie fought in an era where guys threw punches. 4 jabs a round wasn't a masterclass. Lmao
