At the time Miller was dropped and Ruiz came in, Hearn said it had sold 17,000 tickets, with 10,000 of those coming from the UK..

Expect it to be loud and like a UK event if thats true.

I will probably watch a nature program instead. I am not wasting my pension money on a load of crap like this.

They’ve done well to deal that flag over Ruiz’s tits and beer gut

Oh that’s a decent turn out considering the card & price of tickets!!

I don't mind Ruiz Jr as a replacement I put him on a par with Miller, a but underwhelming compared to Wilder or Fury but a solid opponent nonetheless, if he looked the part then he wouldn't be getting half the stick from the casuals who just see a fat mess, he's a decent boxer Ruiz, quick hands a decent enough boxing brain, took care of Dimitrenko with ease recently, there was a few people who made him world champ in beating Parker, I thought he lost if fairly convincingly on the cards but the rounds were close and the fight was dull, Ruiz never worked hard enough to become a world champ and that could be the case here, I hope not though and he gives it his all

Joshua's recent performances have been getting slated, Takam fight stopped too early, Parker fight dull and was getting beat by Povetkin, still he was on verge of legit KO of Takam, Parker was a domination where Joshua showed composure and a well schooled gameplan and in the end he destroyed Povetkin for the first time in his career, I think Joshua has still looked the goods personally

Joshua is a patient fighter with the ability to hurt guys quickly, Ruiz might have quick hands but he's slow on his feet and I see Joshua putting a beatdown on him before stopping him in around the 7th, Ruiz is tough but isn't in Joshua's league, he isn't mobile enough to avoid a sustained beating plus Joshua's a clever boxer who'll show Ruiz the respect he deserves

Ruiz is just as good as Miller. Though I had absolutely no interest in the Miller fight. So naturally I have little interest in this one.

I think Joshua wins by stoppage in the second half of the fight. Can see Ruiz being super negative until he tires.

I don’t get the similarities everyone seems to see with Ruiz and miller except their both big boned guys. Ruiz is a very good boxer technically, nice duck n roll style, good left hook, good jab. Much better boxer than miller but miller posed a different threat with his solid chin, walk forward, high volume style. He’s much slower than Ruiz and doesn’t move his head much. Two very different fighters. I don’t see Ruiz being negative at all unless AJ really frustrates him with the jab (something he failed to songs Povetkin)

I basically think both get Knocked out around round 7. I don't think Joshua gets either Ruiz or Miller out early. Can't judge Miller anymore though. Cause he was on quite a lot of performance enhancers.

Let’s say, for arguments sake, Ruiz beats Joshua. Given that nobody thinks it’s going to happen how big of a shock will it be compared to other HW upsets?

I was Young at the time but did anyone give Rahman a chance against Lewis?

That fight was all Lewis’ fault anyway. He came in out of shape. Had just been filming as well. But he was poor that fight.

I was thinking about that fight too. It wouldn’t be a Tyson-Douglas level shock, but I do remember that Lewis was expected to deal with Rahman in short order...

Joshua doesn’t strike me as the type to under prepare or take anyone that lightly.
Lewis’ arrogance for that one was off the scale!

rahman was actually a pretty solid fighter, heavy jab and right hand and very long reach for his height, gets underrated because everyone remembers how embarrassing he was in the rematch with that bizarre hands out stuff. he won pretty much every round vs tua but got screwed twice.

Sure Rahman was solid but I think accepted as a level below Lewis so it was expected to be a fairly routine fight for Lennox. From what I recall reading in the papers at the time...

Lewis was a 20–1 favorite. But he didn’t really take a Rahman serious.

It was a huge shock.

Not as big as Tyson losing to Douglas though as Lewis had been stopped previously while Tyson had the veneer of destructability when he was stopped. Though the cracks were starting to show
