Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyrone Spong - October 12, 2019
His problem in terms of his watchability is that he only really seems to put his shots together or with venom is in response to an opponent's attack. If the opponent is just outgunned and not really mustering up anything, he becomes very boring as a frontrunner though and doesn't really initiate with much.

Bivol doesn't launch any all out attacks and waits for his opponent way too much.
Almost like he's programmed and can't opt out.

So far Castillo has Bivol right in front of him and isn't exerting himself enough to make an impact.
Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyrone Spong - October 12, 2019
Seems like they're going through the motions.
Bivol is happy to box it out while Castillo randomly chases getting into range while landing nothing of significance so far.

Bivol is one of those guys just as happy to win rounds as to score knockouts.

Looks frustrated, needs a new trainer to bring out the best of him.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑12 Oct 2019, 23:24 Bivol is one of those guys just as happy to win rounds as to score knockouts.

He's just too much of a perfectionist technician.
Definitely needs a Beterbiev or Johnson type dance-partner.

Upside to Bivol is he's in great shape, he has a number of solid weapons in defence and attack and has a good attitude.
On one hand I want him to stick to the basics and have a steady career, and on the other I think he could branch out and be involved in some classics.
It's up to him.

It's not like he's a plucky trier - he's got the lot.

What I'm saying is if he continues to be involved in these kind of bouts he'll do just fine over a period of time.
Saying that Bivol may just be slotted in as a warm up act if you know what I mean.
Yeah we like him ... but not on the main event.

Usyk looks like Halloween come early.
The William Hill ladies look terrific.

Usyk in total control. Boxing with the right style he'll need at HW. Clearly not much power though.

Chazz took a beating in the 7th and the corner stopped it at the end of the round

Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyrone Spong - October 12, 2019
Usyk looked sharp and deadly. Toyed with his target all for seven rounds.
Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyrone Spong - October 12, 2019
I think Usyk intentionally held back, wanted rounds, and treated the fight like an elevated sparring session, which is all the fight really was to begin with.
This fight didn’t answer any questions other than the only question Usyk himself wanted answered and that was how he would feel several minutes into a fight.
I think it was a smart thing to do by him.

Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyrone Spong - October 12, 2019
Though Usyk boxes southpaw he doesn't look natural.
The odd jab that connects is good for him, but a lot of the time he's out of position, coming up short and looking sloppy.
Guy is in tip top shape and up for it, but venturing to the deep waters of the big Heavyweights is not for him right now.

Won easy and looked fine. Will be a top 5 hw at least, the very best guys are the question
Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyrone Spong - October 12, 2019
Not sure how Brian Kenny gets paid for that shitty excuse of commentating. Clearly he's never watched a Usyk fight before - expecting an early KO, then complaining about seeing actual boxing. I think Wilder has duped the casuals into thinking the HW division requires as little skill possible to get by just to deliver power.
Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyrone Spong - October 12, 2019
Now Usyk should fight someone top. Well, this choice of an opponent wasn't his fault. Hopefully anything won't go wrong again.
