I know he was rated Top 6 in the Ring's P4P ratings. I also remember that was considered quite generous.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑28 Jun 2021, 04:14Agreed, but Broner's resume for the first 5½ years of his career (before his 24th birthday) was truly impressive, his critics only seem to recall what's transpired since 2015, when his in-ring talents were declining.
Adrien Broner was once classed amongst the top-six of The RING's pound-for-pound ratings, he's engaged in ten world championship bouts, faced ten world champions and also captured world titles in four weight divisions.
Even if you severely dislike the guy, and I’m not his biggest fan either, it’s impossible to deny that he was once considered one of the best fighters on the planet.
Like him or loath him, there’s not a lot of fighters competing today with Broner’s resume.
Do you give Loma any sorta bye/credit/asterisk for the “shoulder injury” ?margaret thatcher wrote: ↑28 Jun 2021, 04:20 tank beats everyone at 135, at most teo might beat him, not too small at all
teo at 23 beat loma, tank's going on 27 and with his talent should fight an elite name next
He went about 15(13)-0 around 3009-2013 and picked up two belts @ 130-135. Not murderer’s row or anything but after about Gavin Rees he was a p4per, getting to the HOF if he stayed @LW.gilgamesh wrote: ↑27 Jun 2021, 22:59Broner wasn't an ATG or a Hall of Fame level talent at any weight class he ever competed at.skanksta wrote: ↑27 Jun 2021, 17:54I dunno - you said he was like Broner and I agreed ?!gilgamesh wrote: ↑27 Jun 2021, 15:17
He didn't fight anybody that was a threat at any of these weight classes. Teofimo Lopez and Lomachenko would beat him at Lightweight I think. Haney might too. At Super Featherweight he never took on Berchelt, Valdez or anybody else. At 140 maybe he'll actually prove he's worthy of the hype.
I wouldn't even match him with Spence, Bud and guys like that until he actually beats a top guy at these lower weight classes he's competing at. So far he's not even fought one.
And he's 27 years old![]()
A KO phenom at 130, but diminished a bit by every division he moves up to 147.
Like Floyd himself !
i think his injuries are legit, but they have been such an ongoing thing that i think it's just part of who he is as a fighter, something to be expected, and that he will struggle with some type of physical issue more as he agesskanksta wrote: ↑28 Jun 2021, 16:03Do you give Loma any sorta bye/credit/asterisk for the “shoulder injury” ?margaret thatcher wrote: ↑28 Jun 2021, 04:20 tank beats everyone at 135, at most teo might beat him, not too small at all

He showed grit, power, patience, and persistence. And emerged victorious in a fight where things weren’t always going his way.
And I suspect the fact that Gervonta Davis had to work for his victory over unheralded name will be used as ammunition by his critics to justify accusations of Tank being a hype job.
They’ll inevitably ignore the fact that he defeated a very decent opponent that was much physically larger than himself.
Meanwhile, other fighters (that choose to engage in a continuous stream of mismatches against journeymen or shot to pieces names), will inevitably be celebrated and automatically bestowed an honorary rite of passage to "greatness" without anyone requiring the need for verification.
That said, I appreciate that Tank’s been carefully matched, with him facing progressively more challenging (though clearly not elite level) opposition, which is good (and logical considering his age), but this trend has to continue, and I’d like him to make 130lbs his natural habitat, because he is quite small.
I think he’s ready to face the very best at junior lightweight, but I don’t think he’s big enough to compete against the elite level 135lb-ers.![]()
Prior to the first GGG bout, Canelo had engaged in 51 bouts over a twelve -year timeframe and had only engaged in one fight officially weighing more than 155lbs. The Mexican is probably around the 5’8” mark.Counter-puncher wrote: ↑29 Jun 2021, 05:57 'i think he's ready for the best 130lbers now... but not at 135'![]()

poor lil Tank, he's only 26 or 27, like Canelo when he DEFINITELY WAS A SMALL MIDDLEWEIGHT so it was totally understandable waiting for GGG to grow ancient...
No one said that Canelo was a "tiny" middleweight. That's you lying.Counter-puncher wrote: ↑29 Jun 2021, 08:23yes you can see by his subsequent career what a tiny middleweight Canelo must have been, the poor lil mite.
So there are reports is did c.210k buys. It’s crazy that 210k buys is deemed to be a success nowadays. It’s a similar number to the LSC fight.maverick23 wrote: ↑01 Jul 2021, 13:37 Has there been any word yet on the number of PPV buys for this?
About $15m revenue.
Managers and promoters get paid from boxers purses though right?margaret thatcher wrote: ↑05 Jul 2021, 16:43 fighters aren't the only ones to get paid, obviously all the ppl putting on the event want to make dat dough too.....if they are barely making money of it, will they be happy with it
In this case, I’m sure Showtime and PBC do their bit.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑05 Jul 2021, 16:48 thought promoters are the ones who pay the purse......and then get their earnings through event profits after everyone has been paid?
who pays for setting up the event, venue, advertising, event staff....etc
You’re right. The managers and trainers will likely get a % of the purse but it’s the promoters who’ll be covering the costs of marketing.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑05 Jul 2021, 16:48 thought promoters are the ones who pay the purse......and then get their earnings through event profits after everyone has been paid?
