I think he’d beat Garcia. Campbell dropped Garcia pretty hard and I think he’s a softer puncher than Linares.
Garcia does have some serious power in his punches but if Haney fights (and is able to fight) like he did in the first half of the Linares fight for 12 rounds then I think he wins a shut out. Would be a good exciting fight though.
Haney will have learnt more from the Linares fight than any other fight of his before. He knows exactly what he needs to work on and he found a way to win after getting hurt. A lot of young, undefeated fighters haven’t shown they can cope with adversity whilst Haney did and he’ll be a better fighter for it.
Mayweather would have learnt loads from his fights with Castillo (when Castillo didn’t have the reputation he had later in his career and Floyd was a big big favourite from memory) and it probably showed him that he wasn’t going to win easily every fight.
Haney’s still got tonnes of potential, he’s only 22, knows now that he can cope with adversity and win and he knows what he needs to do to improve. He’s not the finished article that he thought he was but that’s ok - also doesn’t mean he’s an average fighter. Keep him away from Teo for a while but I’d favour him against the other lightweights. The winner of the interim fight (Fortuna vs Jojo Diaz) would be a decent fight for him too.
Pretty much sums up what I’m thinking, other than beating Garcia via shutout. Garcia’s also a work in progress and improving. Hes under the tutelage of the best trainers in game, which means something. I’d slightly favour Haney at this stage.
Feel like others poster have been arguably fair but short sighted. He’s 22. He upped the comp. linares is a top fighter and clearly prepared. Haney will just have to prove them wrong, that’s up to him though.

Haney, for a young kid and his first big test did fine. He landed more punches on Linares than any previous opponent, including MGarcia and loma. It's funny people say Linares is shot, but Floyd wasn't when he fought Canelo or Pac at an older age.
you still find a way to make this a 'they hatin on floyd' thing
let's say youre stranded in the dessert, your throat is dry and you only have enough to either suck floyds balls or andrades balls.....whose do you pick?

he's got plenty of potential and is very handy already, but i constantly hear 'great' 'amazing' 'beautiful' 'special' to describe his ability and i dont see that at all yet.
before i join the jerk fest i just want more convincing performances than him holding on for survival against 36 year old linares........kid did not recover well at all from that and obviously has little power, those 2 things already make his greatness in doubt for me

are we really giving him props for how he responded to being hurt? he didnt win another round, looked like a scared puppy, and never fully recovered. he looked mentally and physically very vulnerable and never reversed or the tide the fight was taking, the bell simply ended it.
cant say im filled with confidence on how he responds to trouble, and with his obvious lack of power he better get used to guys who are still gonna be coming forward all fight

Whoever is saying great already needs to settle down. Sounds like marketing bs/unfounded hype. He’ll need to prove his greatness, plenty of time to and plenty of time for things to go wrong. Fkn lovely jab though.

He got through the fight and won. It wasn’t pretty for sure and some of the running hugs were comical but he came through adversity and still won. Many top fighters/prospects have tried to fight back straight away after being hurt and it’s cost them badly.
It’s worrying that he was still shaken in the 12th after being badly hurt at the end of the 10th but he can learn from it. He got caught with some big shots earlier in the fight and took them well so fatigue may have played a big part in how he didn’t recover too quickly.

if im on his team, im more worried that 3 rounds on he still hadnt recovered and was looking like a scared kid in there. not something i would consider a confidence booster at all really
he never turned the tide or really got through the storm to retake control. the fight simply ended
simply getting hurt the first time , not dropped hard or anything like that, really threw him off

If it’s not in the highlights, it didn’t happen.
It's worse than that Jim, it's plain censorship.
The fact that these corporations think they can get away with such underhand tactics speaks volumes about the age we now live in.
People have short memories and will eventually mostly forget the 911 irregularities, the strange results of 2020 US election, the finer details of the Covid 'epidemic', the routine MSM ignoring of stories that don't fit the narrative.
The first blatant recent example in boxing was the way that footage of notorious end of round 7/beginning of round 8 in the first Wilder v Ortiz fight seemed to have suddenly become difficult to find.
Eventually it reappeared, thwarting the intentions of those behind the effort to eradicate the controversy.

Is this an attempt to get this fine thread thrown in the Offal Topic Politics, Religion, Race closet?

Haney could always be in line to get his man strength. Could take 3-4 years.
If that happens, then he will be a force alright.

I would adress teo issues with that fight , I said it before i'll say it again it was a good fight and a good performance he done well , he stepped up and Linares prepared well was in great shape and wanted to win badly .
So that brings me too the issues ,, Haney is'nt and its obvious a killer puncher at that level , however he can box very well , is sharp and fast
So the issues are why does a good boxer , outbox a good solid puncher for 6 rnds then start to stand and trade with the puncher ,
So issue one ,,,,, Was he told to do that by his corner ,, if he was he needs to get rid and get a corner that understands his style .
Or issue two ,,, Was he not told and and just did'nt have the energy to box and gassed out ,,, If thats the case once again adress his team .
What was different this time around , I think MT will get what i'm alluding too
