It sold really poorly. Loads of free tickets given out to gyms around here and loads of “competition” winners.
Really?

So anyone looking for a night out basically
Yeah, I know for a fact several gyms around Liverpool got given a big load. There was a weird online offer for free tickets max 4 per person and some odd Twitter competitions where everyone who entered won.

Same thing happened with last sky card at Echo.

It’s good cos most of the tickets have actually gone to young kids from the gyms. It’s bad cos it means ticket sales are declining. Might be worth a thread itself, but I know it’s happened in Newcastle before too.

Algieri has always been rubbish, but that was punch perfect by Benn, really impressed with how much he's came on. Great performance.

He’s a nutritionist, wrote books about it. Done loads of podcasts about it. He’s a massive proponent of creatine as well, which is an interesting listen if you wanna look it up.

Got to say benns head movement was 10 out of 10 tonight. He fought a 37 year old and should win but hes progressing. Nice not to hit him on the way down as others would have took that shot.

There are some twisty fekkers on here. Great performance. Benn had a handful of amateur fights man.

He’s a good fighter. Get behind him man

That was only Algieri, but it was still pretty damn good. :bag:

Benn is maturing in to a decent prospect.
Agree he'll not be in a 50/50 for a while yet. He should clean out the British imo. Good fights FOR something. 4 of those at domestic and he'll be ready to bravely lose a WT challenge.

It’s been happening for years although there was a period where most Matchroom shows were selling out so it wasn’t needed but FW’s always done it and Matchroom have on shows where they’re not close to selling out. I remember they had a deal at JD Sports where if you spent £50 or something in store then you got 2 tickets for the boxing. That was for a Kell Brook show too.

It’s a tough trade off for semi big shows like tonight’s. It’ll sell more than 5,000 but not sell out a big arena so I get why they give away a load of tickets. You just can’t do it too much in the same area as people then just wait for the freebies.

Yeh he'd have a good chance at the domestics.

He won’t fight a 50-50 though..

He’s ranked 12 in the world before tonight… he doesn’t need Martin or Garcia… get him in with Ugas or go for Crawford… why not? He might lose but Bud is 35 and look how much Porter’s energy bothered him.
I’d seriously put him with Crawford; he’s be a underdog. But why not.

Well i, hope he gets him , Benn has got potential he obviously packs a decent dig , his skills are definetly improving , but Fooook it i,m sick to death of hearing his old man sprout about how good he is , Conor himself sprouting how good he is , and he still does,nt get in a 50,,,50 lets have it right Chris Algeras is a part time 38 year old....He did look good ,he did look improved but for Fòook sake stop giving him fights he,s sure to win , here he goes again , with i deserve respect , i,m vbla bla bla Well fight a Foooking 50,,,50

He's certainly an interesting guy. Danny Jacobs hired him as his personal chef for a fight camp. I don't think he's ever been a natural fighter though. He was about 3 stone heavier than Pacquiao and got dropped 20 times.

Can't fault Benn on that performance, looked on it and will grow his confidence even more. It's about time they let him in with a live one, and they might have the confidence to now.

Then again you look at Algieri up in weight, and at 37 and the talk of Broner next, it's going to rumble on a while yet.

He’s not going to back to British level. I know he wasn’t really there to begin with but he’ll consider himself world/fringe world class now.

In fairness they did try and make the fight with Jenkins for the British (and Jenkins wanted to accept their offer too) but FW would only consider purse bids which takes too long. Instead he fought Formella whilst Jenkins waited 9 months before fighting Essuman.

I love it when guys go the traditional route as it usually makes competitive fights and builds fighters really well but I think Benn did the right thing moving on from it when it became clear it was going to be difficult to make and time consuming too. He’s had 4 fights since the Jenkins fight was mooted and I don’t think anyone can argue with his progression.
