Re: Nathan Gorman vs. Tomas Salek | CH5 - 17 June 2022
I’ve just caught up on the show.
We knew it was poor beforehand but unfortunately it was as bad as expected.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen the Echo so empty. It looked like they blocked off one of ends of the arena but it even still looked bare in there. Id imagine something like 700 in there.
Kelly is a great front runner and looks amazing against overmatched opponents. In reality he’s only fought 2 guys with ability and ambition and didn’t win either fight. If he’s allowed to dictate the pace then he’ll great but clearly we need to see more.
Salek was a rubbish opponent for Gorman and I wasn’t surprised at all that he was blown away. As someone said, this would have been an early undercard fight with Sky or Matchroom and shouldn’t have been close to being main event.
I didn’t think I’d say but I miss Mick and I certainly miss Jon Pegg’s matchmaking on Ch5.

Waste of time
Bounce puts gorman number 8, in front of Wardley

Kelly v Troy Williamson could be good, think Troy would be too much for Kelly.

Why? Not really much in it tbf, Gorman a former British title challenger with wins over Johnson and Cojanu, Wardley has beat Vallily and Molina, it's a good fight and the kind Wardley should be targetingfunso banjo baby wrote: ↑18 Jun 2022, 04:30 Waste of time

Rumours are there were only 300-400 people there last night.
I think people will still turn up for the few monster events a year e.g. Fury v Whyte, but friends of friends aren't going to buy tickets for small to medium shows while they are paying circa £2 litre at the pump.

Yeah. I read something yesterday that the biggest concessions people are making is trying to cut back on the nice to haves on the food shop, reducing spend on clothes and cutting back on trips out. A night at last night’s show would have cost at least £70 for the ticket, travel, food and drink. Just not worth it.jimmystone wrote: ↑18 Jun 2022, 10:12 Rumours are there were only 300-400 people there last night.

Whilst I agree with you I don’t think it helps putting on a show in Liverpool when the main fighters aren’t even from the city or area. They had a few scousers on the undercard but with the poor quality of the main card I can fully understand why people stayed away.
I was pretty shocked that Boxing News gave the show 3 stars in their preview.

He’s ok. Needs a lot of work but so have lots of good heavyweights over the years. I’d be surprised if he wins a British title but he’s still young so has time to develop.JamesPhilips wrote: ↑18 Jun 2022, 11:47Is Matty Harris any good?Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑18 Jun 2022, 11:05 Undercard Results

Was really disappointed to discover gorman’s opponent did not have a tremendous moustache, wear an Hawaiian shirt or drive a Ferrari.

Just put this on.
David Price in da house.

Dominant display from Josh Kelly.

There definitely weren't many people there.maverick23 wrote: ↑14 May 2022, 04:35 Really poor main event and crazy they’re taking it to the Echo. May well be the lowest attended show at the Echo.

Re: Nathan Gorman vs. Tomas Salek | CH5 - 17 June 2022
Haha what a couple of fights they were.
My wife is a casual and watched it; she totally got caught up in the bullshit being spouted. She thinks Gorman should be fighting for a world championship soon. She saw Salek’s record 17-3 and thought ‘wow this is gonna be an even fight’. Channel 5, my wife, Steve Bunce, Gorman’s titties and Kalle can fornicate right off it we being served shit like this and being made to feel we are lucky “as it’s free to air”.
Talked about Kelly’s performance as if he just banged out a prime Miguel Cotto within 4 rounds.
Bad one.

I still think Kelly could be useful … on the strict condition he improves in the second half of 10-12 round fights.
Its alarming how he goes to pieces if he doesn’t get his own way.

Sounds like Uncle Eddie and allegedly would like your wife.
That's the sort of people they like aiming their pay-per-views at.
Re: Nathan Gorman vs. Tomas Salek | CH5 - 17 June 2022
That was a genuinely terrible boxing show.
Re: Nathan Gorman vs. Tomas Salek | CH5 - 17 June 2022
Yep, think they nicked the show from fight zone and stuck it on CH 5.
Re: Nathan Gorman vs. Tomas Salek | CH5 - 17 June 2022
So much to dislike.
Crap match-ups.
No budget (fairly obviously) for decent opps.
Kelly's and his team's confidence in him shot to pieces, the callout of Ritson sounds Eubank Jnr-esque in it's weight-bully tone.
Putting Gorman top of the bill, with Kelly as chief support, in Liverpool.

What I never understand with promoters with a low budget is why not make some domestic scraps??
Re: Nathan Gorman vs. Tomas Salek | CH5 - 17 June 2022
Wasserman with a low budget? Behave.
Kalle’s suit and coke for the big night probably could’ve paid for a top 10 heavyweight for Gorman if he really wanted to.
Gorman is obviously looking at Tyson and deciding dieting is overrated. He has no way the natural talent and unless he changes then he’s getting banged before Euro level again. Incredibly frustrating fighter and someone I’d be happy with seeing get beat.
Tyson doesn’t have a good physique; Gorman makes him look like a prime David Hasseohoff.
Poor card driven by arrogance and trickery…

Didn't they mention some other card, happening in July?
