Eddie Hearn To Offer Dillian Whyte Rematch With Anthony Joshua For July 29th Or August 6th In Stadium Fight

Eddie Hearn says he will “likely” make an offer to 35-year-old journeyman Dillian Whyte to face Anthony Joshua in a rematch in a stadium fight on July 29th or August 6th in London, England.

Hearn says the rematch with Whyte (29-3, 19 KOs) makes the “most sense” for the former two-time heavyweight champion Joshua (25-3, 22 KOs) to get ready to fight in Saudi Arabia in December against Deontay Wilder or Tyson Fury.

It’s still not sure that Joshua will fight before his December clash, Hearn says. He will be meeting with the Saudi reps next week, and at that time, he’ll find out if it’s okay to let Joshua take a tune-up in July or August against Whyte.

Surprisingly, Hearn still believes British boxing fans are keen to see the Joshua vs. Whyte fight after all these years. If Hearn goes ahead with his wacky idea of placing Joshua-Whyte in a large stadium in London, it could be a ghost town, with a handful of diehard fans wanting to see this outdated fight for old time’s sake.

“It’s very likely that we’ll make Dillian an offer to fight AJ in July,” said Eddie Hearn to iFL TV about Anthony Joshua’s tune-up contest this summer to get him ready to fight Deontay Wilder or Tyson Fury in December in Saudi Arabia. “That’s the fight that would make sense [for Joshua].

“We would go in a stadium. You have the UFC that just pulled out of July 22nd. We go 29th, August 26th, or something like that. We may go the first week of August, but again, until we have these meetings next week, I just can’t give you the answers on that. I think we’re going to London,” said Hearn about where he would stage the Joshua vs. Whyte rematch.

Anthony Joshua: "I'm Not Going To Be a Bruiser; I'm a Thinker, Maybe an Over-thinker"

“When you look at someone's make-up, you have to look at what their attributes are,” Joshua told Sky Sports. “I'm quite tall, I've got a long range, but I'm not going to be a bruiser.

“If you look at my character, I'm not the most aggressive, outwardly type of person, I'm not a fighter—I'm more of a boxer, there's a thought process, there's a method behind the madness. I've always tried to develop my boxing IQ but over 12 rounds there are times where you have to fight and I want to become a box fighter.”

“It's why that fight with Jermaine Franklin, I realized I was in with someone who's a counter-puncher, you throw two, they try to hit you with three—so I changed my game plan," Joshua said. "I stuck behind my jab, used my attributes and got the win. I can build on that because there will be a day where just being a fighter may not work against a certain opponent.

"The man who has a plan A, B and C in his locker because he can use his jab, he can move around, he knows how to defend—I think he'll have more of a chance to be victorious on a tough night. I'm glad I got those rounds in the bank and I can move forward on my quest to become a full and well-rounded fighter."

Joshua added, ”I'm a thinker… maybe an overthinker.”

Definitely been an overthinker since Ruiz 1. But he also doesn’t have the boxing IQ or skills to match, not a great combination. Much better as a fighter than a boxer.

DAZN's Markowski: "AJ Not Fighting Until December 'Not Consistent With What We’re Planning'"

“That’s not consistent with what we’re planning,” Markowski said. “We’re in discussions for an AJ fight in advance of that, but nothing’s made. We’ll see what happens. [A summer fight is] definitely possible.”

“Fighters say things on social media all the time,” Markowski said. “I don’t think you should read too much into that. We’re talking to AJ’s team about what the next six, seven months look like for AJ. We’re not there yet. But I don’t think it’ll take too long until we’ve got some clarity on that.”

One of the biggest manufactured hype jobs ever and he's exploiting these street dudes.

The most obvious fake laugh you will ever see.

AJ gonna get stretchered soon

Things must be desperate.

He has more bottle than Fury and therefore a deeper respect from his peers and fans.

Has there ever been a bigger heavyweight bottle job than Fury? I guess there are enough diehards who are happy to watch him in guaranteed victory parades to keep him in business, but still..

What is a guaranteed victory parade in heavyweight boxing? Lewis v McCall 1, the homecoming? Aj-Ruiz 1 ‘coming to America’.

The two I listed were probably similar odds as a couple of those fights.

Agreed. I get the impression he wants the image of an intellectual boxer with huge ringcraft, but I’d say his best chance would be to get back to being a bruiser.

But outside those fights, Lewis continously fought the best in the division, and Joshua has been in with the best in the division (Uysk) twice, someone that Fury seems reluctant to face.

If Fury faces Ruiz are you saying that is a guaranteed victory fight, because it was for Joshua?

Joshua is still ducking Tyson Fury, still ducking Deontay Wilder.

Joshua is the biggest fraud bottle job in the history of boxing.

The people that protect him, set up photo shoots with old people, disabled people, people, kids, and now gangs throwing up signs.

Your man is a specialist in meltdowns and crying and being a 3 time loser, probably 4 time and 5 time loser coming very soon.

LOST in America, never won in America, NEVER made it in America. Lost in Saudi.

Fury had an ATG CLASSIC trilogy with Deontay Wilder.

Andy Ruiz Jr SMASHED Joshua in America - one of the most embarrassing nights of his life

Fury is a better tougher fighter for sure, he just won't face the big challenges like AJ. Or he will only when he has too.

Fury has failed a PED test. Joshua hasn't. That is a massive difference, along with Fury's inability to find a pen for key fights.

Every day i vow to not get involved in the same old crap arguments, but.... Please tell me which fights AJ has had that were riskier than Wlad in Germany and Wilder in L.A. AJ was favourite against Usyk, who looked shocking in his two heavyweight bouts and was seen as a blown up cruiser. I think Tyson was 9-2 against Wlad and around 3-1 for Wilder.
