geeze smith has a chin on him. took a lot to put him down. and even then he got back up.

Will say the 3rd last punch befor the first knockdown looked very illegal.

Beterbiev has to be one of the most overlooked boxing talents. Fought a more patient fight than usual.

Callum gave it all he had. Tried all his signature punches but it wasn't enough.

ya bert was much better this time than vs yarde. much more composed. looked to me like he had a lot more respect for callum as a threat than he did vs yarde, and the result was some very tiight power boxing

And that’s why Canelo ran towards Kovalev and Bivol.

But wanted absolutely nothing to do with Beterbiev.

nah i could see that as a legit stoppage. crazy the ref was gonna let it go even after the second kd until he saw the corner waving it.....i remember him also reffing a fight where david lemieux dropped a guy like 8 times before he finally stopped it

i dont think so. bert did a lot different this fight than he did vs yarde. much less swinging from a distance for one, instead working his way in with the jab and being more patient about putting the poweer shots in

did you have this fight even when it was stopped btw

Those back of the head shots are illegal. He did the same to Yarde.

Giving Mundo a round seems generous with hindsight and nobody else did..

too many good domestic lhw fights that ddont happen. yarde, smith, buatsi..............should be a fight between at least two of these guys at some point

I was impressed by the pure boxing by Beterbiev. I wondered if this was just for Smith and his 5 inch reach advantage or if this is his adjustment to his age as he can't fight at the pace he used to and this is the new version.

But I think this was in evidence against Yarde too, instead of him necessarily getting hurt and backing off as it was being described, I got the impression that he was getting frustrated with himself and every time he made a mistake and got caught he was resetting and starting again because he was pissing himself off.

Cal's a class fighter but seems too nice for the game. He's not alone in being at his most dangerous when hurt, but there's an obvious problem there against Bert.

I felt this really showed the contrast between pro and amateur styles from respective elites.

Its that impecable balance the great fighters seem to have , generating power with everything , see if you find ANY of these great well trained fighters / champions , crossing there feet , , moving the right foot behind the font foot whilst throwing does'nt happen , there feet just automaticly move into the correct position , closing , opening the distance , generating there power , i love to watch them in action

Game effort by Callum. I thought Beterbiev came out in the first 10 seconds with a combination and let Callum know that this was the elite level. Callum stayed in there but you just felt Beterbiev had more gears, while Callum was having to go at full pelt to stay in the fight. Beterbiev is just a class fighter who is blessed with top level power. The margins are slim and you can't afford to get caught. Buddy told him to push Beterbiev back in the corner and he came out and got caught throwing a right hand. Beterbiev is moving to his right to create the angle for the punch. It catches Callum off guard. It's a unique type of movement. Just like that the fight is effectively over off one punch. It goes back to the old cliche - levels. Credit to Callum. He gained respect by giving it a go. Beterbiev is a class fighter. I like how he often just steps back and resets, changes the angle and starts again. His timing was great tonight and I still don't know what gear he was in.
