But it's not athletics.

Nobody would expect to beat (say) the British champ at girls running/tennis/snooker, but boxing has so much more emphasis on size/strength and bone&muscle density. That's a much bigger thing in combat obviously.

I mean, Claressa has never KOd a woman with a bodyshot, your power is obviously nothing compared @ 55 to being young and explosive, but you're hitting a 5'5 woman not big men ?

Still, what you say and The Jackal's (where I@m sure he's being at least a bit modest/respectful)is very interesting.

Funnily enough, even tho' Shields beat Marshall, it's a lot easier to see Sav beating guys up than The GWOAT. :maybe:
The main problem for the average guy is that he's NOT hitting them.

And that removes the power advantage. ^

You watch a lot of top women spar Mickey - what do you reckon is the "women formula" - ie. the size difference to make it fair ?

Lots of men can’t fight (punch) either. Fitness would let a lot of untrained men down, fighting is tiring and no matter how strong you are once you are knackered you lose speed and power. I remember seeing a little bloke in the gym who was a decent amateur absolutely box rings around muscle bound novices twice his size and they would be gassed after a round or two.

It's the youths I see more of. There's some excellent ones coming through. A girl called Vonnie Haley from Bradford spars carded am males all the time and holds her own. A non boxer her own age would have no chance. I suppose if you're significantly bigger you could just walk them down but you still wouldn't land much. I can't stress enough how bad complete non boxers are when they step into the ring for the first time. They're clueless.

I must say I've never seen these untouchable defensive skills from any female Professional.

Most of them look significantly easier to hit, and significantly sloppier and less coordinated with their attack.

Conditioning would certainly be a factor, but i think your conditioning could hold out longer if you were completely at ease in there, and not worried about the offense coming back at you.

You don't need untouchable defensive skills against a non boxer, an ordinary guard or parry will do.

There used to be a lot of roiders come down the gym to punch the bag, most refused to spar, maybe they had begun to realise how long a round was just by hitting the bag.
Anyway I always leapt at the chance to spar, while I didn't take advantage, I always proper put them in their place.
If you are tough enough to turn up at a pro gym, you are tough enough to get softened up a bit :box: :yay:
