What you mean like every other Hip Hop star?????????jamesmcdonnell wrote:Kanye West...
A rapper of relatively modest ability, whose talent for self promotion, wearing daft clothing and talking about how he's the biggest and best recording artisit ever seems to be his major avenue of expression.
Kanye is the 2000's version of Diddy. Diddy, Timbaland and Kanye should stick to what they do best. Producing amazing records.Terry D wrote:Not really no. You get some guys who are very different.E wrote:What you mean like every other Hip Hop star?????????jamesmcdonnell wrote:Kanye West...

I agree with James. Kanye is a great producer but every time he opens his mouth for a verse he ruins the songs. His rapping really is shit. 'The Bounce' was all set-up to be one of the best ever rap songs, great beat, verse by Jay-Z then West jumps onto the track and you have to skip the second half. He really is that bad.
Yep, if anything, Diddy was better behind the mic, although having said that, I saw him perform live once, and my god it was so bad it was unbelievable, it sounded like some drunk bloke at a Karaoke doing a will smith impression.Emerson Poncey Name Ghent wrote:Kanye is the 2000's version of Diddy. Can't think of any producer that was a good lyricist, apart from Dr. Dre
Loud records closed down, well the owner (steve rifkind) sold it to Sony..and many of the rostered artists had to find new homes..Mobb Deep suffred from this situation also..jamesmcdonnell wrote:Q-Tip is a little underrated I think. His album 'Amplified' is an absolute cracker.
I like the dudes from Dead Prez as well. They got dropped by their record label in the end.

Hip Hop is still a dirty ass track after all these years. Clipse are another example. Their debut album is one of the best I've heard.Terry D wrote:Yep, release a brilliant album then get dropped for not being commercial enough. All the while West lines his pockets. They were signed to Startrax (N.E.R.D's label), sold loads and then disappeared off the map after Shay Hayley left and Pharrell and Hugo formed The Neptunes.Terry D wrote:Did they work with Pharrell?Emerson Poncey Name Ghent wrote:Hip Hop is still a dirty ass track after all these years. This is one of my all-time favourites. If this doesn't get you Jitter-buggin', I dunno what will:Terry D wrote:They did that good song with Timberlake, Clipse.
