He showed pressure and decent body work, nothing more and it was enough to grind out a win. All talk that he is going to be something special is an attempt to sweeten a bitter pill.
I have watched the fight agaon.
WTF was up with Witter?
He should have beaten this guy with ease.
What was up with Witter? .....he simply was not good enough to beat him.
Witter had his chance to beat Bradley in the ring last night and he didnt do it, plain and simple.
If fighting on Showtime for the 1st time in years and defending his WBC title against an unbeaten number one contender and putting a performance on to press for bigger fights was not enough, then as was the case he simply was not good enough, bottom line.
I don't know were Witter will go now without a title belt, as between the holders at the moment they can mix it up plenty without him.

I had it Bradley by 1, although I found it hard to score at times. Especially with Bradley's fecking Uncle (all 17 odd stone of him) in front of me jumping up every time. I alsmo had to miss the knock down. Twat.
I thought Witter was world class. I don't think he is now.

I think your anti-Hatton bias is going against you here, usually you talk sense but consider these 'special' names:
Tszyu
Barney Ross
Carlos Ortiz
Locche
Aaron Pryor
JC Chavez
Cervantes
Even guys to have challenged at this weight such as Arguello are better than Bradley, call me mad but that is what I think. You could also tell those guys were special from a single fight or two. Bradley is not, should not have won in fact.
I am not inclined to call a guy 'special, great or ATG' on the basis of one win for a portion of a title versus a 30+ guy who has looked poor in most of his recent fights barring Harris and the odd decent round.
You are over-egging the pudding. Witter should have defeated this guy but in the final analysis Junior was shown to be 1-D and once figured out faded badly, plus his stamina did not hold up.
I'm not Max mate, Maybe your right and I'm trying to sweeten the bitter pill of last night, truth be told we don't know how good Bradley will go onto be, I still think Bradley looks tasty, I didnt say he'd be an ATG. Bare in mind Cervantes was made to look like a amateur against Loche on his rise to the top, Tyszu had quite an easy rise to his first title, and when Duran fought Buchanon he would not be the defensively skilled boxer he would become later. I don't think anyone thought Cotto and Hatton would make P4P lists in 2002. Early days for the young 24yo champ
Was a joke, Max completely lacks class when picking the wrong horse, I just got the impression you are gutted and looking for silver linings!
I think Cotto and Hatton looked better at the preliminary level and that Bradley has defeated a guy who until recently went 36 unimpressive rounds (Lynes-Kotelnik and his title win) and was losing some of his reflexes. Early in his career Witter was unorthodox but would not just stand stock still with one arm extended, doing a Naz versus Barrera to all extents. Like him or not but Witter used to work his KO's.
Locche would make anyone look poor. Duran looked special against Ken in my opinion as Ken is head and shoulders above many British fighters, Witter included. Kostya was knocking over ex-title holders and decent fighters, although aged, early and looked impressive on his way up.
Bradley has not, he looked nothing special at the 10-round level and last night all he did was throw the jab or 1-2 to the body, try for the head, then move back a little, and it left Witter fumbling.
I just do not see a long and distinguished reign from Bradley. One of his earlier southpaw foes actually fought better versus him than Witter did, and made use of the left hand, Witter used it once straight and it landed. It was abysmal in many ways.
Yes I was gutted last night, been a Witter fan since 2002, I'm from Bradford and always hoped he'd come good. I probably did overlook allot of his weaknesses as a fan and wrote off his off nights as bad days at the office. Witter never really became good at the simple things and looked for the spectacular. Maybe he declined after the ndou fight or maybe he was always lacking. Having said all that I'd say Hatton-Witter is a 50-50 with Witter being the slight favourate if they fought. You wont here me call for the fight unless Witter gets a title back. An all British title fight would of been fun
Becauses hes a lack of a draw Witter probably has nowhere to go from here.
Bloody horribly scrappy fight wasnt it, both on the back foot, Witter
telegraphing and missing. Bradley missing allot, 1shot and hold, time after time.
The biggest hope is they get rematch and given Bradley isnt a huge draw theres a slight chance it may come off

Sums it up - If Hennessy can get the rematch it would be great, Bradley has no following at all in the states.
With the strong £ - they can make him a good offer!

No disrespect to Hennessey, but the venue wasn't anywhere near full. I just can't see Junior attracting a decent crowd by himself.

Just another thought..... is Hennessy really going to be willing to invest mega-money in a 34y/o who now looks to be nowhere near the class a lot of people thought (myself included), doesn't sell tickets, and isn't going to be wanted by american tv. Personally, I can't see Mick forking out much to try and secure a rematch.... he's never going to see a good return on Witter now, and afterall, he is a businessman.

True.
It does not look good for Witter.
He has to keep busy - but at World level.he miht not get another chance.

Nonetheless, Witter did what only a handful of guys in this country are prepared to do, and that's fight an unbeaten fighter who comes to win.

Apart from David Haye ( I think he would fight an undefeated fighter who wanted to win), Britain does not have any other fighter who would do that. Sad,but true.

Calzaghe - Kessler.
Hatton - Mayweather.
Froch should have fought Inkin, just to name three.
Granted, a lot of our protected fighters in a certain camp wouldn't take such risks, but we have plenty of fighters who do.
There is some utter shite being spoken on this forum at the moment.

Calm down.
Calzaghe Vs Kessler slipped my mind.
Hatton was in it for the money and turned it down several times.
In my defense , I was rweally thinking about UNKNOWN UNBEATEN fighters that came to win.
Feel better now?

Absolutely.
I'm not a huge fan of Witter but I felt bloody sorry for him last night. As you point out Gray-Fox, he took a high risk-low reward gamble (I say low reward, because a win would have only served to shift but one of the myriad roadblocks between him and Hatton) last night and came up desperately short. Not only that but now you sense that Witter will never be able to reclaim his lost credibility (at this point I would like to make a firm distinction between 'official' credibility and respect - which Witter will always have in spades) in time for it to matter.

Witter also had to take this fight, as his WBC mandatory or he would have been stripped of his title had he not. So really he had no choice but to fight Bradley if he wanted to try and keep a hold of his title.

On the mandatory point did anybody catch what Duke McKenzie said about it being tough fighting mandatories becaus you weren't as confident???

I had a sinking feeling about this fight all week.
If Witter's timing is off, a fresh, amibitious, fit, strong and aggressive fighter like Bradley was always going to cause him some problems.
I had it close but I did nod off for rounds 3,4 and 5.
Oh and never trust a bloke with two first names.

Good to see you behaving yourself , Edward.
I have seen your usual nonsense ove at Doghouse, when will you learn?
Shame Hatton did not have the guts to give te public the fight they wanted to see.

So Kessler and Floyd Mayweather were not undefeated.... they didn't come to win.

If Hatton vs Mayweather ( 2 ) happens without Hatton beating a top opponent first............then what a piece of sh!t that is they will be serving us.
and Malignaggi doesn't count as a top opponent.
Hatton vs Bradley might be fun.......at least Bradley knows what's it like to be held all 12 rounds.....that's what Hatton will do.

So if Hatton vs Mayweather II is scheduled for 140 and Ricky has beaten the #2 ranked 140 fighter.... you still wouldn't find it acceptable?

Mayweather should be fighting Cotto and not wasting time on Hatton and thats what it is a waste of time. Hatton can't beat Mayweather at any weight and it wont be at anything other than 147 anyway
And Malignaggi got a gift against Ngoudjo, Herman should have won 9-3. Witter despite looking piss poor performed better against Bradley than Malignaggi did against Ngoudjo

If you think Bradley is a Christian name, you have spent too long in Croydon (replace similar pikey equivalent) or watching Corrie.
The superstar of two forenamed fighters is clearly Chris John.
