I can't believe how fragile his chin turned out to be though. I've been a big supporter of Khan on here, I really thought he had the basic tools to go far - with the obvious question mark being his chin.

But the way it was exposed last night has shattered those illusions!!!

I was out at a party in Bolton last night and when the news went round he'd lost my mates were literally doing cart wheels. I think that says a lot about how much his journey from humble young olympic medallist to cocky and arrogant big time charlie has turned people off him!!
i've never had anything against khan.

i like watching him fight.

obviously some of the stuff he comes out with is off base.

but that makes him good for a laugh whenever he gives an interview. :D

i hope he comes back from this.

got a feeling we'll see it happen again fairly soon though. :(

Khan's chinny yes, no one can dispute this, but he has just faced a massive puncher - how massive we don't know.... but in equal measure to assume Murray would smash Khan, cause a man with an over 90% KO record has - is being possibly a tad harsh on both Khan and Prescott.

What this fight has done as made the Murray fight ALOT more interesting - but I don't think it should automatically mean Murray's going to KO khan the minute he lands a jab.
What has Prescott done to prove he's a massive puncher, though? 17 KOs in 19? Whoopee-doo. Check out the records of the men he sparked out. In his most recent fight, Prescott went 10 - yes, TEN - rounds with an unknown Cuban called Richard Abril. Abril's nothing more than a gym rat in Miami and yet he managed to avoid getting knocked down, wobbled or hurt by this MASSIVE PUNCHER Prescott for over half an hour. He also lost only a split-decision, a verdict many people disagreed with.

History can't be re-written just because of the nature of Khan's defeat. He was destroyed by an unknown, protected Columbian who'd never fought anyone remotely decent and had struggled to a split decision in his last contest. As stark as that may seem for Amir and his team today, those are the truths of the matter.

Nothing like hitting a guy when he's down eh? Never thought Khan was going to do that well but felt for the lad. He's a good role model and has splashed out his own cash to open a gym in his home town and I think generally comes across as a good lad.

One thing I've never liked is all his family screaming and going nuts at ringside. I think it takes him out of his gameplan and he comes out looking to impress and lets the adrenaline get to him.

I mean, we knew his chin was going to be a big problem but he walked straight out to meet his opponent with a lead left hook!!!

I feel for the guy. He's only 21 and it looks as if he's finished. Now that's a harsh reality right there. I wish him all the best and hope his money is being stashed away nicely.

Massive rebuilding job and one I wouldn't want to have.

Yes but it's a well known fact that Columbian - and South American in general - journeymen are tough little bastards given their hard and often brutal upbringing. Beating on British and Euro bums isn't the same as fighting hardened Latinos who have been fighting for their life for most of their lives.

We all saw how bad John Murray - one of our brightest prospects - looked against tomato can Munguia in December. :-?

On the other hand people thought Khan would blitz Murray the way he did Gomez but Murray is a big lightweight. The shots Murray hit Meager with would KO Khan. I don't think that is in dispute anymore. Murray is heavier handed than Gomez at the weight.

Different type of fight but similar pay-off. KO loss for Khan.

I really do now think he should have stayed amateur.
Disagree on the amateur business - I think Khan might well have lost to Gavin, not necessarily by KO but on points.

Murray isn't a big Lightweight - not that long ago he was nominated to fight for the British Super feather title. I would dispute the power difference between Gomez and Murray.

And I don't think any of the British mentioned as near certainties now against Khan (including Thaxton) are as destructive as Prescott.

Not saying they WON'T KO Khan, just don't think its a forgone conclusion that he won't be able to take their power.

Naseem went the distance with Peter Buckley - shall we start dissing his power also?

Similar things were said about Freitas, Kasidas, Asiku, and several others when they came here. Just cause they have a padded KO record - doesn't mean they cannot punch.

You know Abril personally? He's undefeated too.

Warren speaks too.
I find it a bit hard to understand Khans Dads comments. Khan did next to nothing but what he did do was leave himself wide open. Obviously didnt respect Prescott enough and thought he would beat him easily. Khan himself said the fight would be one sided, and it was, but I dont think Khan meant in Prescotts favour. Khans big mistake was to underestimate the punch power of Prescott. As Joe Calzaghe said its the easy fights that worry him, not going in with Lacy and Kessler.

"Murray isn't a big lightweight"- What does this mean exactly and why is it relevant?
Stu, may I ask what it was about Khan's performance which makes you think he has a chance of withstanding Murray's power?
I also seem to remember you insisting that Gomez wasn't capable of KO'ing Khan in their fight too... did you think if Gomez had landed flush Khan would've taken it because Gomez wasn't 'big and strong' enough?

Khans legs buckled with a Jab

Khan is weak and dried out at lightweight, somethings gone wrong,Amir is still at the same weight he was at 17 and every time he gets in the ring he has packed on more muscle
,that = a dried out fighter,Amir could of got killed in there,Khans chin is getting worse and worse, that fight was embarrassing to watch

Khans chin was useless, rocked by a Jab,weight draining destroys punch resistance, look what it did to Chris Byrd, that fight was shocking and crazy

thats khan been knoxked out twice now.once by limmond, not a devastating hitter but clever and well schooled, and by prescot. there is no coming back for khan, because he cant take punches.it was obvious before in the fact that he never fought any live lightweights.any half decent genuine lightweight only needs to to go for the ko now and they know that their chances are fifty fifty. i feel sorry for thaxton, stewart, murray etc..all guys who would have burst khans bubble...but were never given the chance.
my congrats to all those who like me were in with some big money on prescott at 80-1. as for the rest, and unbelievably, those who are still convinced that khan will amount to anything.....well,i just want to say dont believe the hype.

"Murray isn't a big lightweight" - statement means nothing to me.... just pointing out that had Khan fought Murray 6 months ago critics would have called him a bulked up Super Feather... as they have done Limond (who was a champion at Lightweight).

Nothing in this performance would suggest Khan could take punches from Peter Buckley even.... but fact is Murray has a 50% KO record (many of whom have been compasionate - eg sustained poundings or cuts stoppages or something like that) - how many clean KO's has he scored.

Prescott has an over 90% KO rate.

Gomez cought Khan flush enough.... and didn't get the KO, didn't come close. and I would say even as a Lightweight Gomez carries about the same fire power as Murray (although Murray would be stronger to take the opponents onslaught).

How is giving your honest opinion. Pointing out the people who have knocked Khan down and telling everyone why Khan will never be anything, trolling?

On Khans forum it was a bunch of people still saying how great Amir Khan is. I wasn't after brownie points. I posted my opinion on there backed up with facts. They obviously know nothing about boxing on there because my post was the first real criticism I saw on there. I tell it how is it, if that's trolling then I guess I'm a troll. What would the world be like without criticism?

I couldn't belive they sent me a warning. So I decided to show everyone on here. How crap Amir's forum is. I'll be sticking to boxrec from now on. I'm showing boxrec's users how lucky we are! At least you can post an opinion on here without getting your account banned.

Classic example of dropping the right hand when throwing a jab, the Columbian seemed to spot it and came out winging the left hook from the start.

Boxrec have Prescott going up 97 places to World number 13 and Khan dropping 16 places to 23. Prescott is now number 1 in his own country. That should get him more fights in Britain and America especially since he has little experiance but obviously a good punch. Someone will beat him shortly but he should earn quite a bit of money before that happens.

Disagree on the world class level I bet no one on the elite level is even considering Prescott as an opponent
he hasn't proved anything yet. Bredis is ESPN type fighter in America not worth HBO or Showtime yet.

Maybe, but your thread can be deleted on here. Mine was last night for saying Khan and Sky were bullshitting us about Prescott. As things turned out Prescott was indeed a risk but I dont think Khan or the Sky team really thought so before the bout. Most of us didnt think so either.

There was clearly a straight left which wobbled Khan before the left hook landed. Watch the fight again.
