Josephine Gonzalez Huizar

Speaking of mothers....... We were the other day. This is Jeri's mother, Josie. Josie passed away 10 years ago this coming June. She was 79 at the time. She had a heart attack. Jeri was the only one that didn't get to see her before she died. We got to the hospital a minute or two after she passed. That's still hard on her.

Frank . . . That was a great model. I liked when they came out with that design. A friend of mine's father was a major Cadillac dealer in Thousand Oaks. My friend worked for his dad and eventually took over the dealership, however, when the above model came out, he was just a salesman and being the bosses son, he got a Cad for a demo. This was the model he chose. He was 24-years-old and stylin!

I wish I had it now. I used to go cruising on Whittier Bl. on Sunday nights, with all the good oldies playing on my eight track. Those were the days.

I have to agree with Rog. All the new cars all look alike.

Its on the street west of the Montebello City Park, yes they do have fight there but, not the boxing kind....

Nothing like a good cat fight. Throw in a little mud, hot oil or whip cream and it will sell out the house.

Kit Boursse', my heavyweight stablemate, had a '63 Impala SS in 1969. People might be surprised what that car could be put thru and survive. That was in the days of the Fisher Body on Chevy's.

A quick '63 Impala memory:

One afternoon, Kit and I were heading up Roscoe Blvd. in Van Nuys towards Van Nuys Bl. We see a car parked by the curb with flames coming from under the hood, which was open. Kit pulls over, jumps out of his Chevy and pops open the trunk. He grabs a furnture pad from his trunk and smothers the engine fire with it. Once the fire was out, Kit asks the lady, "Are you alright?" She nods yes. Kit returns to the car with the smoking furniture blanket and kind of shakes it, to rid the smoke. He tosses it in trunk and we take off.

About ten minutes later, we smell smoke . I'm in the passenger seat and turn to face the back seat and see smoke pouring out of the rear radio speaker, which was located right in the middle of the back seats, at the top. We pulled over, and Al pulled the smouldering furniture pad out of the trunk. He dosed the flames in the gutter and we left the pad behind a building.

We had fun in that car

Before the 8 track came out, we had 45 rpm record players on our cars, they played good if you were standing still, the cars been lower, as soon as you hit a bump the needle would jump all over the record....

Had one myself, Rick, "63 SS. brought it at Felix Chevrolet in 1964 for $1,700.00
