‘Maybe he’s trying for twins’ – Tyson Fury on Conor Benn test fails

Image

Tyson Fury asked about Conor Benn

“It’s none of my business. I don’t get involved. You’re speaking to Tyson Fury, “The Gypsy King.”

“I’m not a sheep. I am my own man. I don’t follow the cliché of “Let’s talk about someone because it’s in fashion,” said Fury.

He continued: “I don’t give a toss what they do. It’s none of my business. I keep this nose in what concerns me.

“I don’t get involved in other people’s business. Period.”

But the more he spoke, Fury would eventually say something about the failures when adding a joke for good measure.

“It’s none of my concern what Conor Benn does. He’s about ten stone. He’s not in my division.

Conor Benn ‘trying for twins’

“I don’t focus on what they do in their lives. I’ve no interest in what fertility drug they take. I don’t care.

“Maybe he’s trying for twins and taking IVF? – I don’t know, and I don’t really care.”

Benn is facing a tough battle to clear his name after stating contamination was the cause for two failed tests weeks apart.

The British Boxing Board of Control is investigating the adverse finding flagged through the VADA program.

The banned substance clomifene is a performance enhancing drug known to raise testosterone levels. It caused the end of his bout with Chris Eubank Jr at the O2 Arena in London last October.

Releasing a statement aimed at the BBBofC due to its allegations of misconduct, the British boxer protested his innocence through his team: “He strongly refutes the allegation of misconduct [which for the avoidance of doubt is *not* in relation to the VADA issue].

“He firmly believes that an independent tribunal will reach a wholly different conclusion.”

Cedrick Peynaud

Former opponent Cedrick Peynaud, who gave Benn kittens when they fought and two black eyes for good measure, spoke to World Boxing News over the weekend.

He exclusively told WBN: “It’s sad because to be the best is to improve yourself, but not at someone else’s expense.

“We all know that the truth always comes out in the open in the end. So with Conor Benn, we will see.

“After seeing his face at the end of our battle [two swollen black eyes], maybe he thought he should take something magic.

“But I can reveal that we did not have an anti-doping test for our rematch. As it was for an international title, I thought it was obligatory. But maybe Benn knew it couldn’t be negative.

“If a test has a problem, we reap what we sow. Benn had several checks and several failures. In the end, it can’t be a mistake, so yes, he must be suspended.

“But I think there is a global problem, unfortunately. I think there have always been problems, and there will still be plenty of them in the future.

“The whole situation completely distorts the sport.”

Benn’s brought it in the big guns. He’s got Mike Morgan to represent him. Morgan is an expert in sports law and specialises in drugs cases. He got Chris Froome and Lizzie Deignan off in their respective cases.

yes, but a bottom top 10 paper champ type, i never thought he'd be a genuine elite fighter who could win ppl over by putting together big wins like canelo and fury have. if you're an elite fighter and winning at top level you're much harder to ignore and more ppl get on your bandwagon (though you also get more haterz too)

who knows how good he'll be if he's not going to use his peds going forward too

Not in the slightest. Ive just woke up heads a bit hazy bit i cant think of a world class Irish lad about at the moment. But i will support each 1 to a fault. Apart from conor mcgregor. Conlon could maybe reach world level. Maybe :bag:

Edit. Forgot k Taylor. Not a fan of females boxing tbf but shes proven. We do have a few youngsters coming through, but world class idk. Amateurs is a different story tho. Its making the jump to pros has been the problem :bag:

Eddie said yesterday that they’ve had help from the UFC re: the Conor Benn situation. The UFC will have some bright guys around this, and have had some fighters get popped for clomiphene too.

He’s been well paid in recent years/fights. I’d imagine he’d have made a couple of million and his dad’s still well off I think. Will also be in Eddie’s interests to get him off so wouldn’t surprise me if he’s helping out too.

I’d be surprised if his purses for his whole career add up to much more than £2m Mav and once tax, trainers, camp expenses etc have been paid he’s surely not sitting on a big pile of money.

I think Eddie will be stumping up most of the cost, speculating to accumulate.

Eddie would have paid him well over the odds in the last couple of years to keep him on DAZN and away from Sky Sports. I think he’s also had sponsorship deals with Everlast and Reebok and I’d imagine he was paid well for his early fights too compared to what he should have been paid.

I’d imagine his earnings are closer to £5m than £2m but it doesn’t really matter. His dad’s still wealthy, Eddie’s around and, given how into his faith he is, I’m sure they could hold a whip round at his church as a last resort. He’ll probably need to sell either his Rolls Royce or Lamborghini first though.

I have an investment analyst background.

The Destroyer Limited is the only publicly available information for a trading company controlled by Conor Benn. This might not include all activities.

Estimated profits before tax per period:

30 July 2018 - £50k
30 July 2019 - £74k
30 July 2020 - £112k
30 July 2021 - £318k

Total - £554k
Estimated Corporation Tax paid - £105k
Estimated retained profits after tax - £449k

Estimated dividends taken - £333k (extra tax would have been paid on these)

Since the last set of accounts have been the Granados, Algieri and van Heerden fights.

At 30 July 2021 the company had shareholders funds of £116,306.

Other things to note. The company appears to have taken out a £50k bounceback loan in 2020. I estimate he pays £1,850 for his accounts and the accounts disclosed much more information than they need to. :brick:
