As Chairman of the World Boxing Hall of Fame Selection Commitee, I believe that every regular poster on this thread, should have a say in who gets inducted into the World Boxing Hall of Fame. You know who you are, the ones who I named to receive a disc of the "first year" of the Classic American West Coast Boxing. Armando Muniz and I will include the names of Frank Baltazar & Tom Ray on the WBHOF "Selection Commitee". I know that at least one of you are already are on the Selection Commitee. As a commitee member, we send you a ballot and you'll be able to vote for your favorites. This also gives you the right to submit your own choices for nomination in future WBHOF inductions. Bennie would give the U.K. another voice, and there is Roger, Randy, Pug, and Bruce.

This gives YOU a voice, and a vote. We are not passing out memberships, you are the only new selection commitee members that will be added this year- Our Boxrec "regulars". My E-Mail is: [email protected]

Thanks for the kind words Rick. Funny,now that I can see,I hope I can keep my focus. You see being blind in one eye made me look inside myself more. For me that's scary, but very rich. Now that I want to see everything in front of me that I couldn't see before,I hope life doesn't become superficial. That's great stuff. Jofre and Medel are always interestung to watch. Too bad there's not more of them on tape. Just a sidelight. I always liked the way Medel wore his hair. Gaspar Oqtega had the same haircut. I tried to have the barber cut my hair like that when I was a kid. Never came out right. Mayba i didn't have any Indian blood in me that's why.

You say you're going to go to Brazil with Monica to do a documentary on Eder Jofre. Your the guy that understands what this guy was like in the ring. He was ,perhaps,the best small fighter who ever lived. He demolished some great fighters. He never had a downward turn like a Duran or a Pep or an Olivares. He came out of retirement to win a Feather Title. You're the guy that can open this guy up to the younger generation of boxing fans who don't know about him.

Poor Joe Medel. He had to come along when Eder was the Champ,or Joe could have held that crown for a while.

Frank . . . I fought the night of Lou's fourth pro fight, at the Olympic. I remember his career was going pretty good until he fought a very awkward Eltifat Telabi. I remember that Talebi was from Eastern Europe and would overwhelm a lot of boxers with his strength, and lots of blows coming in from every angle. Telabi wasn't great, but Lou didn't know how to deal with the guy and dropped a decision. I lost of track of him after that, and seeing his final record is appreciated.

I can picture Lou Blades perfectly . . . Blue trucks, white shoes, stand up style, good jab, stiff straight puncher, not afraid to mix it up. If he had a guy hurt, he'd jump on them and try to end things early.

This is for our U.K. friends. Last year we inducted Lennox Lewis into the WBHOF. Personally, I'm considering Sir Henry Cooper for the ballot this year. Maurice Hope is another. Cooper was a legendary British, Commonwealth and European Champion. He is also one of only three men to "legitimatly" floor Ali, and the image of the young Cassius Clay blinking his eyes in the corner, trying to regain his senses after coming off the canvas hurt, is one that I'll never forget. Maurice Hope is worthier of the two in my book, because Henry has won virtually every honour in the game while the unsung Maurice won his world title overeas and stopped Vito before Vito held the legendary Hagler to a draw.
