Moyer once said that for every trick he had in his arsenal ,Louie would have two. Best fighter he ever faced. Rodriguez would have had his way today with today's Welters.
Good to hear Moyer's memories. Yes, everybody is over the top about today's superstars. What would a Margarito, Hatton, Mayweather, etc. do with a Luis Rodriguez? Not much. I saw Rodriguez in summer of '65 at the Olympic. He completely embarrassed Rubin "Hurricane" Carter. As always, after six or seven rounds when Carter realized he could not win, he just coasted to a safe loss. That was Carter's legacy, once his power was nullified, he stopped trying. Rodriguez was a master, two easy wins over the over the guy Bob Dylan claims could have been "Champion of the World" had he not been incarcerated. Stick to music Bob.

Your assessment of Carter was right on
Hey Buddy
I like to listen to XM Radio in my car. I often tune to this station called "Sinatra". They play Frank's, Dino's,Sammie's songs. Along with Nat Cole,Ella,...you get my drift. Well the other night I turn to the "Sinatra" station and I hear this voice that could have rubbed the sand off sand paper. He's singing "Stardust". I look to see if I hit the wrong button. Nope, it was the "Sinatra" station. Well I want to wait to the end to find out who's massacerin' "Stardust."
Well what do you know? The announcer said that it was Bob Dylan. Hurricane Carter should have kicked HIS ass.

Just a quick note to wish our good friend, "Wildhawke" (Danny) happy 70th birthday today.
Danny, I'll always remember your birthday as it falls on the same day as my youngest daughter, Kirsten, who is 23 today.
-Rick Farris

Hey Danny
If you look through the thread,I've retold a few of my experiences when I was sowing my oats as a kid in Tijuana during the good 'ol days. Some of them bars were pretty dark and I'd get pretty drunk. I was in this place called The 5/10 Club once. Had this little number in the corner over the booth. Let's put it this way, when all was well and done,I smelled like an old outhouse. 5/10 Club. Good name for the joint.

Gee Frank
I wish I was in Michoacan right now. Sitting out front on my patio watching the people walk to Mass. The church bells ringing slowly. The kids playing in the park. Here comes my brother in law Juan with his cart selling elotes. A glass of mezcal. The sun going down. Watching the fire flies. Watching the people walk back from Mass. My wife's tia and her daughter stop by after Mass. My wife invites them inside for some hot homemade gordas. I join them. Another shot of mezcal. I can hear the musicians playing in the park in front of the church. My nephew and his wife stop by. They bring a cake decorated with kiwis and strawberries. Another mezcal. We decide to all walk to the corner where my niece and her husband are cooking tacitos at their little stand. It's the only light in the neighborhood. In the middle of the dirt street is a big white cement cross. Everyone is there.

"She's a whaaaaaaatttt ?" . . .
Danny . . . My wife is Brazilian. She's from Salvador, Bahia. There was a time when she worked in the theatre and the result is she knows a lot of trans-gendered people. Wherever you have entertainment, artisits, designers you'll find she-males. This is not uncommon in Brazil, and Monica showed me photos of men that appear to be drop dead beautiful women.
A guy think's he can't be fooled, but it happens everyday. You can only imagine a man's thoughts when he discovers more in the package than he expected

That's great stuff. Jofre and Medel are always interestung to watch. Too bad there's not more of them on tape. Just a sidelight. I always liked the way Medel wore his hair. Gaspar Oqtega had the same haircut. I tried to have the barber cut my hair like that when I was a kid. Never came out right. Mayba i didn't have any Indian blood in me that's why.
Rick
You say you're going to go to Brazil with Monica to do a documentary on Eder Jofre. Your the guy that understands what this guy was like in the ring. He was ,perhaps, the best small fighter who ever lived. He demolished some great fighters. He never had a downward turn like a Duran or a Pep or an Olivares. He came out of retirement to win a Feather Title. You're the guy that can open this guy up to the younger generation of boxing fans who don't know about him.
Poor Joe Medel. He had to come along when Eder was the Champ,or Joe could have held that crown for a while.
Just read this dont know how i missed it
Wow Rick
Eder Jofre, now he was among The Cream of the Cream

JUEVOS CON CHILES
Frank
My little grand daughter is sitting on our sofa watching novelas. She's 18 and 9 months pregnant. My wife is in the kitchen making her juevos con chiles. My wife will sleep with her tonight. My grand daughter will feel safe.
Everytime one of my grand daughters in TJ gets pregnant they stay with us until they have their babies. They must like my wife's juevos con chiles.
