a lot of you may be surprised that poonsawat only took home about 12 grand for last night.
why only 12k - I thought his share of the purse was about 85k - what deductables are there that take it down to 12k?

Cruz was reportably very interested in taking the fight. I think Dunne should move up to Featherweight, fight a few feather fisted top 30 Featherweights and go after Cruz who isn't a big puncher against decent fighters and he is very beatable as shown on his record with 11 losses. Can't help but feel that Dunne is going to have to be picky about future opponents and can't afford to enter the ring with a big puncher a-la Poonsawat et Kiko.
I think the Cruz link came from Tommy Egan's press releases, when he was offering all and sundry a crack at the IBF belt because Cruz is owned by Banner Promotions.

Ah yes Tommy Egan, the self named 'saviour of Irish boxing'! I forgot about the link between Egan and Banner, cheers for refreshing my memory.

i thought Dunne could win behind that snappy left jab, but you had to wonder whether he'd cave in.
that was savage. the way the little thai tore into him and left him laying on his chin. Props to Dunne for getting up after (I believe) the 2nd knockdown. He really tried to rally back - perhaps he believed winning the Cordoba war that he could turn it round - but he really got beaten up. Brave but futile, it seems.
watching things like this makes you worry for khan and haye, i reckon.

Poonsawat KO because Munroe is too overrated

Spot on and both have the same trainer.
Is it true team magee signed the thai before the fight? and what does it mean for a thai fighter to have an irish based promoter/manager?
are there fights for him in europe?

Both are excellent technical fighters, but without a solid chin they wont reign as world champs for any length of time, granted TECHNICALLY dunne was world champ (wba format) but so was magee (IBO)

sorry, that's 12,000 pounds.
50% straight to promotional team and then who knows......appararently he will now be getting a 4k bonus so 16k altogether

Will Pat Magee have any continued interest in Poonsawat though, or was it because of the Dunne/Ireland link?
I suppose he has stuck with Kiko after all.

85k / 1.10 (euro:sterling rate) = £77.27k
£77.27k / 2 = circa £38.5k
How can he manage to only end up with a third of his share or one sixth of his purse. Sounds like his team are ripping him off it thats whats happened.

Its relatively fair comment - although granted its slight acidic.
Macklin has a large following in Ireland - and, much like Brian Villora, from the evidence of the Manchester Velodrome the other night its considerably bigger than that which he commands in the country of his birth.
without first winning a world title I could only see Macklin filling the O2 - but only under two circumstances a. again Duddy or Lee, or b. with Dunne on the undercard.
