Didn't watch the fight, in a caravan in wales with the family. My phones buzzing away with texts from non boxing mates :D

Like I said. Groves has got talent but adamu is awful, anyone that watched the Dilks fight could see that. Why you think hayemaker forced for the fight!?

With regards to the call out as someone asked, if I fought everyone that called me out or slagged me off I'd have more fights than buckley and a face like my mate spud.

I've said too many times, I'm going forwards not backwards. A kid with 9 fights that's just beat an over the hill, terrible past it fighter is a backwards step.

I'm off anyway, all the best boxrec ;)
Smigga,

Handpicking opponents is the thing to do for any matchmaker and promoter - some of yours have been handpicked specifically to make you look good - THAT HAPPENS IN BOXING!!!

For a 9th fight - and even with the opponent being past his best - George Groves was impressive tonight.

Would Groves struggle with Tony Dodson like Smith?.... don't think so. The lad's a proper fighter and has been since he was a kid. We've a real prospect on our hands. The guy's a natural fighter and has been since he was a nipper. He's made for the pros and will be world champion. Best dead-cert prospect we've had since Naz in my opinion. And don't want to say it but Steve Bunce has rated him very highly if I remember correctly before he even turned over to boxing.

Absolute sh!t.Smith won a commonwealth silver at 19,hardly a veteran. As for Bunce,so what if he thought that?He is entitled to his opinion but it is worth no more than anyone elses on here just because he has got a big mouth.I dont know how much Boxing you watch, but there has been hundreds like Groves over the years, some make it,some dont.Good luck to the kid.People in the know knew Naz was special in the 80's!Errol Christie was a cant miss prospect,he missed.I could name a few who are at a better stage now than Groves was at their age. There is no such thing as a dead cert, mate, when you step up,it gets hard.Adamu was made to measure,Booth isnt daft.Put him in with Quigley(even with Tony giving weight away),if he stops him,i will be a lot more impressed.Frankie Gavin is a cert,if Groves was,he would be with alledgedly

Smith won a silver at 19 but has hardly set the game alight since ditching his vest. And trust me I'm no Buncey fan but the guy does know his stuff. I'm just giving my view on what I see when I watch Groves. He looks totally at home in there and don't think there's anyone apart from Carl Froch in the current Brit 12st scene (including Degale) who touches him.

Yeah cos Warren did such a great job with David Haye didn't he? Oh wait ...
Groves is with Haye, because Haye pursued him from the moment he saw him win his second ABA title.

With all respect to Groves, why should Smith fight a nine fight novice, no matter how much potential he has? I cant see Smith bailing a Euro title shot to face a commonwealth titilist!

Also, I cant see Groves knocking out Smith, as he says he will. Smith has as much heart as anyone ive ever seen in my life. I bet on Quigley and Dodson to beat him and wont ever bet againmst him again. The cuts he suffered against Dodson were hurrendous and not only did he get through, he dominated the fight and never lost faith.

I'd love to see Smith fight Groves, but it wont happen because they are at completly different stages in their careers.

Well done Dilksy - missed your fight but got the story off the lads there. George Groves is a superstar and I believed that for a long time but Dilksy - if anyone deserves to get the shot its you. And I for one will be 100% behind Dilksy in his career and hope you beat smith etc. Dilks has nothing to prove to anyone, he achieved more in his life that 99% of people and if anyone could even think of disrespecting him then they need to have a word. Good luck fella and well done tonight

I can't see how they justified the stoppage- yes Groves was well in control, but Adamu was in no danger, and seemed "fighting fit."

A very early stoppage considering it was a title fight, and the guy was a defending champion.

unsympathetic refereeing with the Knockdowns, too- other refs might have passed some off as slips.

I don't think it's wrong to ask these:
MatthewS wrote:Paul: Who would Groves have to fight in his next two - to remove him from the rear-view and make it an attractive fight in terms of your CV?

If you dont get a shot at Magee, and there are no 'lucrative' International fights on the table - Ornelas, Sartison, Miranda, for example... would you fight Groves if you or he became mandatory for a belt the other held?

Adamu is fornicating terrible there has been many a African fighter who has held the commonwealth title for a short time and 2 years up the road he's a journey man with a 23-34 record or something. Now if Adamu hadnt been gifted the Commonwealth title cause he was imo, Dilks won that fight for the vacant title and he had been brought over to fight Groves minus the title I'm pretty sure everybody would be on here moaning about the african bum that had been brought over, he was bloody awful I've seen low ranking journey men perform a million times better.

Groves was at his best, Adamu was at his worst and it made for an impressive victory.

With regards Groves vs Smith, personally i'd prefer Smith to challenge for the European title, then the winner (him or Magee) challenge for the WBO title off ze Germans.

Then Groves challenge for the vacant title against either Degale or Kenny Anderson.

Then when the selection process is concluded, the British titlelist challenges for the Euro or WBO title.

Build it nicely.

well done george...but lets put a few things straight that people have posted..

adamu is not terrible, look at his record, yes he is raw but he is a very very dangerous contender, you need a game plan to beat his style, groves and booth executed that gameplan to the letter.

someone is saying smith should not bother with a 9 fight pro... well, unfortunately its not about the number of fights you have had or your age...basically if you are good enough then you are experienced enough and old enough.... groves is red hot, he is an ow a belt holder, he is now above dodson an dquigley in the pecking order, he wants your belt smigga, he is calling you out...........why dont you accept the challenge, the public want it, it would sell tickets, and it would be a good worthy british title scrap, and as groves said, he will put his comm belt on the line too.

dont you want to prove yourself right smigga? ... you think you can beat him...so do it !!
