But Sturm got hurt multiple times. Maklin threw 5 punches for 1 to Sturm, and he landed them.

You can't give the dec to the one who got hurt and played the punching bag for 12 rds.

Looked he had AIDS.

It was much closer than those scorecards. We were all expecting it though weren't we?

It didn't come down to the last round though did it.

The judges (or two of them at least) had effectively given Sturm the fight by the 10th round with Macklin requiring a knockout from that point on to win. Which, when you think about it, is ridiculous.

Did they show the final punch stats? I didn't see them if they did.

What now for Macklin? I could well see him calling it a day. He will never perform as good as that again in my opinion. That must be so disheartening to give everything and come out the end with nothing.

on the current scene they are saying that sturm says he will give macklin a rematch

macklin says hopefully november

should be in the uk

lets hope the wba (dont laugh) order a rematch that goes to purse bids......

ps: the wba will probably say no rematch but macklin is the interim interim world champion

like i say i had it 115 - 113 Sturm .... but that could swing same score either way. The result isnt a problem for me, the scorecards were...

Matt put in a hell of an effort but his work to the body just wasnt there 7>12 like it was 1>6 and that cost him in my eyes.

on a positive note when Barker loses to Martinez at least we can finally get to enjoy that little domestic fight.

I had it the same as Jim Watt: 114-114. The Germans must have keeping those two judges topped up with sausages and tankards of Erdinger because to only give Macklin 4 rounds is a joke.

I may be wrong or it could have been a Sky mistake but did anyone else notice a few of the rounds were finishing 10/15 seconds early? The Germans made some hames of the Irish anthem at the start aswell, I didn't even recognise it.

As for the result being different if it took place in the UK? That doesn't really say anything does it? We are just as guilty when it comes to hometown decisions.

I remember Reid Ottke and it was a disgrace.

Also remember Brodie - Chi 1.

Germany has seen some shockingly biased decisions but so has the UK. So has the US, Italy etc...:et's not pretend it's a German problem.

Eubank - Rocchigiani

Eubank clearly won that fight though.

Nothing controversial about that result. Eubank was involved in a few "dodgy" decisions, but that fight certainly wasn't one.

All I was getting across was that Germany is no worse for hometown bias than any other country. It's the norm for Boxing for the hometown fighter to have the advantage when it comes to the scoring. It's bollocks and shouldn't be allowed but it seems an accepted thing.

I'm not sure if Macklin is tied down with any promoter. His manager is Brian Peters (Bernard Dunne's old promoter) who was there last night. He was the 2nd assistant in the corner aswell.
