True.
It don't think that is true, Tyson has been down, but he has got back up and won the fights shortly thereafter. He's only 23 and will get better with experience and time.

Now we know why Maloney was so desperate to get the Fury fight - who needs who now?

Fury has to beat Cunningham the go for Thompson straight after. If Price never came out trying to take his head off the fight would still be going on right now.

Bigger is better. Please. The old school tricks Jersey Joe and Ezzard Charles would inflict on big powerhouse goons like David Price would be unimaginable.
Lot of truth there :TU:
ersey Joe was Ko'd the first 2 times he stepped up to fringe world class, but he came back to be one of the best stylists, Price is never going to be a stylist he's a hot or be hit guy

Ezzard Charles lost a few times coming up in world class, being knocked down 8 times in one of those. But i also think he's one of the greatest to lace up gloves.

this proves you can lose on the way up and come back
Not in this era :TU:

What is amazing is that nobody could see Price was a KO waiting to happen - from day one I said it - didn't think Thompson would do it but there was no way in the hope of mankind that Price would have got to world level without getting KO'd. At least he can rebuild now the ridiculous hype train has finally been derailed.
To be fair there were plenty highlighting his chin issues from the start.

The silliness was from the scouse sports fans who, looking at their football support ( red half at least ) are not exactly new to high levels of delusion.

I can't believe people were genuinely saying he would take Wlad out. Never saw anything to suggest that.
All that is true, but I was shocked about the people boarding the Price hype train who post on here - who all know about boxing - you would have thought more could have predicted it - it is elementary boxing logic even if you saw some of Price's amateur fights but that wasn't the case.

The aftermath is probably worse than the actual ending to the fight.

'If they fought again, well, yeah, it was a freak shot, he is still a double heavyweight champion, if they fought again, Price would win'

It was an effing arm shot...

They are currently talking about a Price-Fury fight! Why would Fury even entertain it? Unless of course Cunningham knows him out

Really? And what did you base that on? He used to look absolute wank, he's come one loads but I don't see how you can make that call on how he used to look.
It's not what he used to be.... it's not even what he is.... it's what he's gonna be.

Fury is improving and learning as he goes.

Let's all stay level-headed. Clearly, the hype for Price has been a little extreme, but likewise the negativity after 1 defeat can be a little much......

Let's not forget Wladimir Klitschko has been brutally KO'd 3 times and come back from it. OK, Price is a bit longer in the tooth but he can turn it round. Let him rebuild with a few British/Commonwealth title defences against Sprott, Towers etc. and go from there.

You could lose awfully & come back, when you fought six-ten times a year.

Unless you're very lucky & have some sort of established fanbase/following, these days the glitzy world of TV boxing doesn't really do resuscitations. Khan rebuilt himself & had proper amateur star power. There have been whispers about Pricey since the amateurs & now he's been flattened by an arm punch from a fat 40-something.

What it's time for now, is a desperate roll of the dice thing. Offer Fury 99% of the dosh & pray that he can land one before Tyson does him. Other than that sort of sink or swim scenario, he's probably just about fvcked...

Ian - you seem to be without the facts or are choosing to ignore them. Jersey Joe never enjoyed the benefits David Price or even Tony Thompson do until very late in his career - for most of it he lived in abject poverty, underfed, unmanaged, and without a full training camp. That he overcame those odds late in life is nothing short of super human.

Ezzard, Archie, Jersey Joe, Jimmy Bivins with the modern, Fury/Price/Klitschko type building up process and every conceiveable advantage would have likely never lost a fight - certainly not on the way up.

Tell me who apart from Kostya put him on Queer Street like that? Brushed him aside with one punch?

Still make a decent scrap between he pair. I wish it had been Chisora in there with him, I was convinced Chisora could stop him, now I'm positive.

Incorrect, tyson can clearly take a punch and has great punch recovery. See Chisora fight and Nevin (undefeated canadin champ) fight. Always though the diffrence between price (and wilder) and fury is than one is a manufactured fighter the other is natural born fighter. Furys bloodline is testament to that, if he wasent in a ring he would be defending his familys name in caravan parks bareknucle style. When the going has been tough for tyson hes has bitten down on his gum shield and fought his way through and always got the W. This was price 1st real test, his 1st bit of adversity and he folded pretty much just as tyson suggested he would.

I don't think those claiming he was going to beat Wlad ( that feels almost embarrassing to type ) actually know much about his am career.

I routinely pointed out he was no more a contender than Helenius, a guy who beat him in the ams, yet they looked well past that level, based on knocking over a few "stiffs" ( hate that term )

It's a shame and I'm disappointed because I like Price. I'm not surprised though.

My point is , you can lose on the way up and still reach the top. In modern terms you can look at Amir Khan as proof, yes he's lost by Ko since reaching world class, but he's won world titles, which is what its about.

But we both know enough about boxing to say that niether Price or Khan will top Charles or Walcott :TU:

well we have a quandery some people (see post by jonnyyorkshu) says he is chinny

if the go down regulary or lose by styoppage a few times then i will conseed and its quite possible you are right but being chinny is subjective to different people. and theres no need to be flippant by saying about points datsue your better than that

I disagree that Fury is the same, Fury clearly has a chin of some sort, he's been caught by some decent shots by decent-ish men and yes he's been down, but got back up. I gave a big sigh when Price went down and even bigger sigh when he got back up on bambi legs doing the Enzo-dance. Bit harsh to say Fury is the same as to me he's already operated at a higher level and achieved more than Price.
