I know. He got his ass handed to him. Its only that Gonzalez has no heart that he got the win i think. Dont get me wrong, ricky showed a lot of heart but he got outclassed tonight.Finch wrote:How the hell does Jim Watt claim that was totally deserved and the performance of his life. Re: Burns v Gonzalez plus undercard
You can't knock Ricky there, Gonzalez was brilliant for half the fight, thought he could stop him but when he realised he couldn't and had gassed himself trying he realised what it was like to face a champion. Yeah he was outfoxed early but he showed true guts and determination. Well done Ricky!
Re: Burns v Gonzalez plus undercard
It wasn't watt who said that but main commentator nick halling. I couldn't believe it when he said that....wasn't exactly Kevin Mitchell standard of display.
Re: Burns v Gonzalez plus undercard
sky says burns performance of his career?? because gonzalez got tired enough to not look great for 2 rounds and broke his hand??
Gonzalez looked great, just a little tired before quitting on his stool. Maybe he did break his hand... or maybe hes just really really stupid, but I can't help but get suspicious with such an abrupt end on the verge of such a surprising upset.

don't look good for the future though does it!
Re: Burns v Gonzalez plus undercard
Weird turnaround. Gonzalez looked like a safe bet but Burns did pile on some counter pressure there and credit to him for that.
I love being wrong but this feels a bit odd.

Re: Burns v Gonzalez plus undercard
Given that Gonzales was out worked for the last two rounds I suspect he picked up his injury earlier and tried to continue but couldn't. I can't see his heart being broke after one tough round in the seventh.
Re: Burns v Gonzalez plus undercard
Yeah but he was outboxing Ricky aswell. It wasnt just his power doing the damage.smackdowngunny wrote:You can't knock Ricky there, Gonzalez was brilliant for half the fight, thought he could stop him but when he realised he couldn't and had gassed himself trying he realised what it was like to face a champion. Very odd ending!! Ricky had started to turn the fight, but even so you'd have thought the lead Gonzalez had built up would be enough to see him box on and hope for a decision win.
Very fortunate that was for Burns

Strangest thing I have ever seen. Even when he lost the 9th he wasn't getting caught

Just like Nicky Cook fight, something fishy there. A guy who is winning easily doesn't just stop.
It just Shows that Burns is a one dimensional fighter who hasn't the tools to operate at the top level.

Eddie should be a political spin doctor.
Re: Burns v Gonzalez plus undercard
Yeah maybe so but let's not get carried away with Burns tonight. Much as I like him as he's down to earth he got schooled tonight and is very lucky to retain his strap.columbo wrote:You never know though mate. The fight was pretty close before Duran quit.... And Duran just beat Sugar a few months earlier. Your memory's foggyJ-C wrote:Duran was getting schooledkeithmoonhangover wrote:Quit like Duran.Coco wrote:Quit like a dog
