I would have stopped Arreola after the second KD, he could barely stand up straight. Corbin was finished nothing early about it.gilgamesh wrote:I don't think it would've made any difference to the outcome of the fight if Corbin had been allowed to stick around so I won't argue with you, but this explains why so many of you guys think the Arreola-Stiverne 2 stoppage was too late. You guys are used to referees jumping the gun, and stopping fights very early. Basically at the first or second sign of a guy being stunned.Final round wrote:tbf I think Corbin had taken enough, so fair stoppage. Up to that point though I'm not sure Cleverley looked like he had much CW poke in his punch..gilgamesh wrote:Good performance for Cleverly, it was another particularly quick stoppage, but it seemed inevitable nonetheless.
Nevertheless good Cleverly looks good at Cruiserweight. I can see him having some success there.

That's very true. I've only seen Tony a few times, but he's never really impressed me much. I think Cleverly could take him.

FFS i missed the thing where Froch pulled Groves across the table lol
Re: Cardiff RBR
I won't argue with that, but I don't feel like he took all that much punishment after rising from the 2nd knockdown he only got hit with about 3 or 4 more clean shots after that out of about 9 or 10, but I certainly wouldn't be calling for Jack Reiss to be banned from the sport or anything like some fans did. I felt like the stoppage was reasonably done, and it was a VERY high stakes fight so there was a lot on the line. Understandable that Reiss gave Arreola a fighting chance.Final round wrote: I would have stopped Arreola after the second KD, he could barely stand up straight. I don't have any real problem with the stoppage in Cleverly vs Corbin. It just seems like early stoppages are the norm in the UK.

Re: Cardiff RBR
Yeah we do have a early stoppage rep and rightly so in some bad cases. I agree with you the calling for Jack Reiss to be banned was overboard but as a ref the boxers health is in their hands and timing is crucial. Arreola looked finished after kd 2with nothing else to offer and that was exactly the case, I suppose the extra few punches just underlined it for people but they weren't entirely necessary.. Sometimes the ref has to stick his neck out and end the show. for the fighters sakes. Not the fans.gilgamesh wrote:I won't argue with that, but I don't feel like he took all that much punishment after rising from the 2nd knockdown he only got hit with about 3 or 4 more clean shots after that out of about 9 or 10, but I certainly wouldn't be calling for Jack Reiss to be banned from the sport or anything like some fans did. I felt Arreola should have been stopped after the second knockdown and thing Corbin just gave up so no complain here...though I tend to dislike fighters in the chief support who don't turn up to win...

Still think Donaire would do a number on Selby although I think the latter does have decent ability.

I'm not convinced that Selby is a legitimate world class fighter to be honest.

In all honesty I can really comment! I havent got round to watching Vetyeka yet. I missed the John fight.gilgamesh wrote:Hey how about that. Think I was the only one to have money on V12 to beat John!

Re: Cardiff RBR
Against Yordan he was a boxer-move against John he looked more like an in the pocket boxer IIRC. He's a clever counter puncher though can be made to look lazy. Think a bit of a hybrid who can do a lot depending on the opponent though. I'd avoid his fight with Hasegawa as both were...looking for the other to lead.columbo wrote:What kind of fighter is he?Boxing Prospect wrote:Think I was the only one to have money on V12 to beat John!

Selby looked amazing against British opponents but...yeah...he doesn't look great here despite the commentators sucking him off
