Ha - no like before Mitchell. There is unfinished business there and Matthews was (until recently) the interim champion and was unlucky that he never fought for the title proper.

Well done Crolla but Perez is/was a very poor World Champion. No head movement and no jab.

Yeh you are so right. C caught him a couple of times in 2/3 but he never went wild, the game plan & work rate came first always, and that's why he won in the end. He waited til the time was right before he took his chance. Amazing, lovely result. Good for ya Ant!

The thing with crolla is in some ways he fights that same gallagher-stereotype John Murray at his worst, come forward high guard, type style, but previous to Gallagher he had a more 'boxer'-type movement; what he does so much better than Murray is make little adjustments with his feet when he's probing to attack, and his handspeed and the crispness of his punches is much better than Murrays was, so he presents much more diverse offensive problems to his opponent, he's an excellent pressure-boxer basically.

By the way I think Gallagher deserves real credit for that

No doubt they make a great team.

Special mention for Adam Smith's cringeworthy commentary - no analysis, no incisiveness, barely even touched on the action, just a non-stop wankathon over Crolla's nice guy personality. Shocking, embarrassing, amateurish stuff.
