Dave?
Seriously?
Haye's career resurrected on the home of witty banter?
Ach well, at least it's free

apparently they have sold 13k for this fight
That is a quality amount of tickets sold to be fair. You'd imagine if that figure is true, with some last minute buys they will be up to around 15k minimum come fight night.
Dave is a good choice too, admittedly slightly ironic when he is often described now as a joke, but a good choice as everyone's got it (I think). They're pretty good about advertising their programmes too so I presume over the next couple of weeks or whatever it is they will heavily market it. They did loads of adverts on trains etc in the run up to Christmas dunno if they have long enough to do similar for this.

Absolutely bizarre to see that it is on Dave. Is this not a missed opportunity for the terrestrial channels? They don't have to show the whole hard, just set aside 90 minutes for build up, short fight, then quick analysis. I know that it may not be a long fight but surely it will get viewers.

Dave is, in essence, a terrestrial channel now, since there is no such thing as analogue TV reception any more.
If you have a digital TV, you have Dave.

Everyone's got freeview, but clearly this will get way fewer views than c5 / ITV or whoever else were in the mix. And surely they would've paid more money than Dave.... I'm sure there must be a strategy but not sure what it is.
Anyway good that it's on free TV, even if it will likely be less than a round

That is true, but the TV audience that the fight would get on that channel compared to BBC or ITV is quite sizable.

Interesting move. Doesn't the BBC own a part of Dave? It certainly used to.

Do you actually know or are you guessing?
If you know, why are you bothering to say anything if you're not actually giving the answer?
I do know. I'm not at liberty to say (easily traceable!). If i didn't know i would hold my hands up and say that.

How do you know, out of interest?
It must be an online option, then?

Officially confirmed this morning. 2 hour broadcast starting at 9pm. The Haye fight is live with highlights from the undercard. Dave are showing a 30 documentary / countdown show the night before.

I guess that explains the undercard then...they just want to show a highlight reel of knockouts before the main event.

The referee will be Stephen Fry, and the judges will be the three blokes off Top Gear.

Dave Gorman will provide humorous analysis from ringside.

I like this. Could be a very positive move all round, as long as it does good numbers. Surely boxing on tv for free is always a good thing?

I hope they show the O'Donnel / Singleton fight in full, 2 hrs would allow for that easily. 9-10 O'donnel / Singleton 10pm (primetime) Haye, and show hightlights from the rest of the undercard after Hayes won within 3.
Fair play they're putting a countdown show on too, people will (and are) mocking but seems they're taking it seriously.

Be interesting to see who they get on pundit and commentary duties.
Woodall usually pops up on new channels.

Well they must be thinking that the demographic of daves viewers is who they want to hit. Hope the presentation isn't too "laddy"

And he did it without boasting on about having an insider source, as well.
