This certainly seems the case. Irish old bill seem completely useless in these cases.
I've seen a few of the Irish old bill chatting away to the likes of Freddie thompson and David byrne and laughing/joking with them. They looked terrified of them to be honest. Nervous laughs. If they are afraid to stand up to them then what message does that send. I wouldn't trust the Irish old bill in any way whatsoever.

Major lack of resources and a lenient judicial system doesn't help them. If you are convicted of a murder in Ireland, you'll prob serve 12-15 years with good behaviour and anger management courses. There seems to be a blind eye turned - let the gangsters kill each other off. Events like yesterday are rare in that the execution was carried out in such a public and open place with a lot of innocent people around so the Gardai have to show as if they are doing something and arrests will happen, we may even see a few sacrificial lambs been thrown to the Gardai. If it had of happened in the Dublin mountains, it would have been brushed under the carpet after a week or so.
Thats not true at all about the life sentances, that would have been the case it being 12-15 years a decade ago but not anymore and certainly not when its a gangland murder. A gangland murderer will do a minimum 23 years out of a life sentance now and will be on licence whenever there released. And thats with good behaviour and more than a decade of work with a psychologist and after 7 years of there sentence they will have to meet the parole board every 2 years for updates on their progression and so forth. Nobody who gets convicted of murder in ireland these days will do less than a couple decades in prison.

I don't know much about the Irish gangland scene, but presumably guns are quite a bit easier to get hold of in comparison to mainland Britain as a hangover from the Troubles etc?

Yea they may be over 20 when past convictions and criminal records are taken into account which is usually a given with a gang member. You're right, my figures are outdated. Just checked and the average life sentence in Ireland was 17.5 years in 2014. Still very lenient.

I don't wish to be a tumescent pedant.... But technically AK47s with this kind of wooden fore grip are Romanian made.

Aren't they AIMs, rather than an AK47 i.e. a Romanian clone of an AKM.

After a good start to their election build-up last week, it appears that those who now class the likes of Gerry and Marty in Sinn Fein as traitors have really put the boot into their campaign here - wittingly or unwittingly.

No police presence at the weigh in and a violent incident that brings the "IRA's" name back into the public psychy at a time when Sinn Fein are making moves? Who said the dirty war was over...

Enda getting a sneaky shot in today aswelsaying Gerry Adams should know were the guns for the hit came from haha what a pudendum . Anyway doubt it was the CIRA they are mainly based in Limerick and Ryan wasn't even with them plus everyone knows who killed Ryan and it wasn't the crumlin gang, I'd be surprised if it was tbh.

If the sentences were longer what impact do you believe this would have on the murder rate? Absolutely nothing! Increasing sentences in the hope of deterring future offences has no impact- that is widely accepted by all with any criminological knowledge. The only thing it would do would prevent those who kill being released to kill again- but is there any evidence that released nurderers are reoffending by killing others?

What is the truth? I remember when Ryan got done everybody thought his gang was going to get revenge, and I never heard a peep after that.
Ryans gang never really had great backing from the lads up north as they were pocketing so much of the cash they were getting off dealers, armed robbers and debt collectors. his gang consisted of afew gobshites like his retarded bro ffs, cant believe they got away with it 4 so long. INLA would be alot more prominent recently. things are different nowadays, youngfellas aint afraid of some part time paramilitary group when money and steel is so easy to come by.

maybe the youngfellas will be afraid now......................
