It was actually Bobby Gunn that circulated that not very well written 'expose' of 'Rufus the doofus Defibaugh'. Seems he had some kind of dealings with him in the States as Rufus was co-host of 'ATG Radio' which claims to offer most authorititave ranking system for bkb fighters in the world, which unsurprisingly had Gunn as #1 and yet had Paddy 'Jaws' Ward down at #3 ! Anyway since then they had some disagreement/fall out or other, and Gunn apparently had a private investigator check this fool out, though personally I doubt that, it just makes good copy and gives Gunn the appearance of being powerful and influential ! Bobby Gunn is no more of Gypsy stock than poor old Rufus here ! Rufus of course got all "starry eyed" and nostalgic after reading Bartley Gorman's biography "King of the Gypsies", a great book and a greater man for sure, but only fake wannabe mugs like Rufus try to be someone they are not ! Anyway this fool then lied about having amatuer experience in boxing in order to falsely secure his one and only "Pro fight" as a result of his fantasies, yet was sent crashing back down to reality after tasting the leather of J'Leon Love's boxing glove ! He lasted a grand total of 47 seconds of round one after doing little more than throwing a few pathetic jabs and a bizzare dance around ring, at first coming forward with all the confidence of someone who can actually fight, then once J'Leon Love's right hand burned up the remaining nostalgia Rufus still held after reading Bartley's book, subsequently went on the defensive and backtracked untill the inevitable KO !
This fool has long believed he is a Gypsy, claiming first the name "Robbins" and did indeed try to claim the fighting name "Gypsy Henry Robbins" by requesting this very site to change it for him ! He was of course this time inspired by Tyson Fury's father John Fury, who during the late 70's and early 80's fought professionaly under the name "Gypsy John Fury". Seems Rufus' idol worship of Gypsies and Travellers and the sense of nostalgia he feels from them has long since gone to his head and turned his brains to mush ! So before he conveniently found out he had a Romany Gypsy aunt by the name of Robbins, and now he is telling anyone who will care to listen on Facebook that he just checked his family tree once again, and again rather conveniently for his little fantasy, has now found out he is somehow related to the Loveridge family, some of whom are personal friends of mine who live right by me on a site in West London. Seems poor old Rufus isn't entirely sure on which family name he should pretend to be related to ! Now there is an arguement for letting him indulge in his fantasies so long as no one is directly hurt or insulted by them, but this is just it you see, some of the things this guy does and says are HIGHLY DISRESPECTFUL towards Gypsies and Travellers !!! I will give you two examples. First is that he has claimed to have a Joyce girlfriend in the past in a thread on this very site ! Now Gypsies and Travellers generally make a point NOT to marry/date outside of their ethnic community, and that goes for the men, but certainly NOT their women !!! There are the occassional exceptions to this rule, I myself have friends who have married Gypsy women, but they were very well known to the family for years and years, plus they had and still have their own businesses and are very rich men ! Gypsies aren't stupid, they are very smart people, they know their worth, and like anyone they want the best for their children, and they certainly wouldn't allow any of their daughter's to marry a complete no hoper like Rufus !!!
Then even worse in my opinion is the fact that quite recently Rufus did a very terrible and disrespectful thing by attempting to make contact with the deceased soul of Bartley Gorman via some two bob clairvoyant, to in the words relayed to me be my source "Aquire the latent power you showed Bartley in order to become the King of the Gypsies, let me inherit this power from you in order that I may be made great as you undoubtedly were" !!! This to me is just so wrong on so many levels, and shows a complete disregard for the man's family, apart from the fact that it was a totally despicable and disrespectful attempt to disrupt the peace of a deceased man !!! Bartley and his family like so many good Gypsy/Traveller families are good God fearing Christian people, and as a Christian myself I know that it is forbidden to indulge in any occultic practices, especially the practice of necromancy, which is the practice of communicating with the dead. Also Jesus Christ told us in the Bible to "Leave the dead to the dead, and the living to the living" in other words to have NO CONTACT WITH THE SPIRITS OF THE DEPARTED WHATSOEVER !!! As Bartley wasn't the instigator, and is at rest in heaven with the Lord, it wouldn't have been his soul Rufus made contact with (assuming he did make any contact with any entitiy atall !) but if he thinks he indeed did, it would have been a demonic spirit fooling Rufus that he did make contact ! That's what I believe, though out of respect to Bartley's family I shall speculate no more on the matter ! All I was told was the fact that he attempted contact with those precise words, I don't know if he actually got a response, however I am just saying that if he did indeed get one it wouldn't have been from Bartley, who is at peace and whom God wont allow to be disrespectfuly disturbed !
Anyway this fool has made a complete and utter prat of himself after reading Bartley's book, and many Gypsies and Travellers don't like him for just some of the points I listed here ! At the end of the day when the birds have come home to roost, Rufus is nothing but a complete wannabe fake and fantasist, just like his best friend Charlie Zelenoff, another delusional little prick who lied about amatuer experience to get his one "Pro fight" and who like Rufus will forever be 0-1 in the boxing records, records which are also kept here in boxrec.
So I would just like to finish this post with..................RUFUS DEFIBAUGH AND CHARLIE ZELENOFF, FOREVER 0-1
