He 'gave' that fight away by getting outboxed and then not being able to shift through the gears enough - as I've stated elsewhere in this thread I think he's another Howard Eastman or Martin Murray, both of whom put in performances that implied they had more in their locker, but the reality was that was just an illusion.
will have to disagree on this one, eubank has shown he can turn it on when he has to, the BJS fight was just a learning experience and a win wasn't far off for him, and as for murray and Eastman I never thought much of either but I suppose we all see things differently
Turn it on against who though? The one time he really had to, because he was being outboxed, he still couldn't do enough. Since then he's been fighting almost exclusively at domestic level.

Yep; he's taking on C level fighters in world terms, turning it on against them is something entirely different to turning it on against GGG.

I remember when Eastman fought Joppy, whenever he tried to put Joppy under pressure, he started getting hammered with uppercuts on the inside, and so he had to take his foot of the gas, then he complained about being robbed after the fight, without ever doing enough to win it.

yes but its how hes been doing it that's caught my eye, the BJS defeat bears no relevance now

Of course it does, he's not fought anyone as good as BJS since.

think most would agree eubank has learnt from that loss and improved since, either way I think this fight will be the making of junior win, lose or draw

He looks to have improved, however, until he beats someone as good or better than BJS, it's hard to be certain.

fair comment, don't get me wrong im basing a lot on an educated eye and can understand your point of view but just get the feeling theres more to come from him and to see it he needs to move to the top table, and if he fails I will take the stick like a man :OhYes:

Yes, I agree, he looks like he can go on to do more, but I do think he's going to be well short of the level that GGG is at, but then, so are most.

I think he will always have a limited skillset, and will be well found out at the highest level.

GGG is without doubt a step too far for Junior. I see it being over inside the distance, probably in the latter rounds.

That said, as much as CEJ is a bit of an arrogant cock-end, I give him props for wanting the fight. He's not ready for it, and he's going to get his arse handed to him, but he's going for it so fair play.

It's no-lose for him really (other than literally on his record). Jacobs, BJS etc fights are all still there when loses. However if he loses to either of those first, GGG fight is gone.

Yeah, no shame in losing to GGG - though if his chin is as good as some say, he could end up taking a terrible beating.

Past level of opponents is never irrelevant and are you really trying to say that BJS didn't make Eubank Jr get out of second gear? Last time I checked he actually lost that fight.
he gave that fight away through inexperience, everybody else hes just gone through the motions, if he had been overly troubled by anyone he wouldn't be in this position, hes a classic case of a boxer that fights at his opponents level which I think bodes well for a GGG fight
Don't you think the lack of experience will count against CEJ here even more then the BJS fight? If he learnt new things from this loss and has just fought down to his domestic opponents level since then how much chance is he giving himself to produce a performance multiple levels higher than he has before.

I see this looking like a cross between the Murray and the Lemieux fights. GGG will be a little conservative due to Jnr's athlecticism and speed but will stalk and grind but Jnr will be much less capable and effective of going into survival mode. I see his toughness keeping him in there until a middle to late rounds stoppage in 7 or 8.

Howard Eastman is a very good comparison that never occurred to me.

Much kudos for him for pushing for this fight, it would have made more sense to go for BJS first who he must fancy his chances more against.

I've spent too much time reading BS, current forum and youtube comments recently. I was starting to forgot decent & reasonable boxing discussions were possible. :TU:

it very well could do and im not saying this isn't a mountain to climb but my gut feeling is that eubank has what it takes to rise to the challenge, it may have come a little early but that can sometimes be a good thing meaning he will still be "fresh" and confident

I see it panning out that CEJ runs for the first few rounds but eventually gets gassed. Once GGG catches a few there's no way CEJ will be able to stand up to it.

Sympathetic good-guy [sic] Terry O'Connor stepping in, waving his fat hands around with his famed "You've had enough, Son" look.

Eubanks Sr and Jr claim it was waved off too early. Everyone else in the world can see that it was over several rounds previous.

GGG wins by bludgeon in 7-10.

Look at how Eubank almost falls over when his opponent comes out of the guard with a counter (usually a left hook), or when he misses, he's so open it's unbelievable

O'Sullivan shook him up with the few shots he landed ,at one point Eubank tried to showboat and got caught with a left hook, got embarrassed and threw a wild right hand, catching one from O'Sullivan which clearly went to his boots

Now watch what Lemieuxs killer left hook does to people, big strong tough guy like Tapia got knocked for six by a glancing one, forget Golovkin, Lemiuex would fornicating kill him, Lemieux would also beat him to the punch, his initial attacks are much faster than Eubanks

Eubanks last few opponents have been flattering to him, NONE of the guys he fought since BJS have been good boxers/movers or more tellingly, counterpunchers, and the only boxer I remember fighting before Saunders was Tyan Booth, who, you guess it, gave him problems

Golovkin may not be a mover, but he doesn't need to be, you think he just sits behind a guard while Eubank works his heavy bag combos? He's open to any fighter with a modicum of counterpunching ability

How do we know he's improved when he fought guys tailor made for him as I said, the two guys he fought who had decent movement in Saunders and Booth made him look amateurish at times (really showed the lack of amateur career Eubank has had) someone like Willie Monroe Jr would be the test of his improvement

I think he's got some size chegwins stepping up to fight GGG,there's plenty of stepping stones inbetween that he could be fighting and making money.
GGG must have a weakness, maybe jr can adapt and find that.
Would love to see him win, then lose to another likeable Englishman

I have said before I don't think it will happen ,, BUT IF IT DOES ,,, I'm convinced its purely a buisness discision , Snr if nothing else is smart , and besides allocades , titles ect , he wants to make sure jnr earns plenty .

Now he has already turned down a return with Billy Joe ,, so whats that tell you , they don;t want to risk another defeat , they want rnds and experience under there belt before they go that route again

But the dilima is , Jnr has to step up ,, he's fought and beat the domestic guys , , If he goes say Billy Joe , Lemieuxs , theres a good chance he gets beat and his rising stocks plummett ,,, so go for GGG the guy who no one else wants to fight , its win win ,, If he wins which he won't , but if luck , God, and Father xmas, all shine there light on him and he pulls it off he's an instant superstar , with Mayweather type demands

If he loses well its expected and he has a couple more domestic fights because after all they will say he's still learning , and get ready to challenge BJ again .

I think snr is looking for the route to the most money first ,, thinking a minor title will come ,, pretty much like his carreer , after all he never beat the main players in his era either , in fact he did'nt fight them

Yes, it's a no lose situation for Jr, unless of course he gets absolutely ruined, but you'd hope his father and corner would pull him out if that looked like happening.

Junior still looks very wild to me when he opens up. Golovkin as well as punching harder than Eubank is just so good technically. His jab is phenominal; there is a nice on youtube illustrating the different ways he is able to use the jab. I feel GGG's precise counter punching, shorter more technically correct punches and variety will just take Eubank apart easily.

Mad Respect for taking the fight.

Snr seems to be implying that they're happy with what Sky have offered and they're waiting on Matchroom. It's seeming a common theme at the moment with the Brook-Vargas fight up in the air aswell.

Golovkin can barely speak English- I doubt that was him or him operating his twitter full stop for thar matter.
