Stiverne had a bit of a stinker against Rossy, but that could well be an anomaly. Then again that Wilder fight is almost 2 years ago now. I heard he was in camp and getting in shape when he was being mentioned in the Joshua fight, so hoping he goes into the fight in decent shape.

I think if Stiverne goes in, in good shape, Povetkin will win in a wide decision. If Stiverne goes into this fight in the same shape as he did vs. Rossy, I suspect there will be a KO aroun rounds 6-8. Stiverne has a good chin, but unfit Povetkin will out work him.

Riabinski takes the fight out of Moscow. Maybe in the province someone actually will pay to watch this nonsense.

What a money waste....

This isn't a great fight, but it is the best fight we have had scheduled in a year in the hwt division.

This division has been putrid as far as matchups. Since Wlad/Fury, we haven't had any highly rated folks going at it. The best we have had was parker/Takam.

Wilder has fought nobodies. Fury has fought no one at all. Povetkin has fought nobodies. Joshua has fought nobodies.

I'm looking forward to this fight simply because it is ACTUALLY a fight!

He's always concerned about traveling fighters being treated fairly.

Let's be honest, Stiverne is an absolute nobody compared to Povetkin. I expect Povetkin to win in about 3 rounds. Hopefully the Wilder fight can be scheduled soon after.

I agree Povetkin should win, but Stiverne is slightly the bigger puncher of the two and has at least a puncher's chance, though I can't see him beating Povetkin by decision. Stiverne also has a good chin, so I'd be surprised to see him stopped early. Ultimately I expect Povetkin's superior athleticism and conditioning to be the difference - I like Povetkin by a wide decision, or late stoppage.

Stiverne being an absolute nobody compared to Povetkin. Once you get a belt, especially in the US, you are more well known world-wide than otherwise. Povetkin is much more well known than Stiverne in Russia, but not over-all. I would say neither guy is a household name in most places to be totally honest.

Stiverne didn't have a real fight about 2 years, and so is Povetkin...and both are almost 40...

The winner will get "The Rust Belt"-)))

Povetkin is more well known than Stiverne. Bermane isn't even a household name in his own household. While Povetkin's pro career has left a lot to be desired he built his world appeal in the amateurs; winning a title and fighting the best fighter of his era in the pros didn't hurt either.

But neither guy is really what I'd call popular as in being known by non-boxing fans.

I think Badhusker just doesn't really know what's going on in the heavyweight division. I can't really think out any other reasons for the things he suggests.

Yup, its always fixed when the guy you want to win doesn't. If boxing is such a crooked and dirty sport, why not follow some other sport?

Man this is completely snuck up on me! Didn't know it was this weekend! Kind of went under the radar.

I think calling Wilder a cash cow is a bit generous. I wouldn't be surprised if Joshua has earned more in 18 fights than Wilder has in his 37. They couldn't raise the money to take Povetkin to the States, and I think they'd be outgunned by Joshua in the UK too.

Wilder's team are in boxing business to earn money (as every other teams beside Povetkin's), Povetkin's "team" (Riabinsky as front man of Krenlin) are in propaganda business.

That's why Riabinski win all the bids, paying crazy money that he have no chance to cover by TV, PPV or any other way!....17M to Klitchko...5M to Wilder...1.5M to Stiverne!?!?!?!

Tickets prices are starting at 500 roubles (~8usd)) up to 30,000 roubles(~500usd) beside the ring. Tickets are still available, 3 days before the event...

Nobody takes Stiverne serious, amazing to see how many tickets Povetkin alone already sells!

Wouldn't be surprised to see Bermane make this competitive.
