Agree, he annoyed me the whole fight. Turned the whole commentary into a cheerleading show for Gavin. They gave Eggington little credit for his work. i could see Eggington was relentless and on top, breaking his man down, but we were just hearing Macklin's cheerleading so it skewed the perception of how the fight was going for the viewers.

Gavin was out of shape and outgunned. He put up a stand and then just got blown out of there once he'd gassed. A poor show, he showed glimpses of class yes, but the way Macklin went on about him was completely daft.

Just another example of the smoke that Gavin has had blown up his arse throughout his career which has given him such a poor mindset and allowed him to get away with blagging a career out of a sport he wasn't fully dedicated to.

I voted Eggington decision, no way could I see Gavin winning this fight with the lack of weight making and check weigh ins etc. He's been taking the piss his whole career, time to retire lad.

Didn't Macklin and Coldwell have Egg way ahead? One of them (forget which) gave him all but one round, and the other had a similar card.

Yep which was bizarre when you heard how much they were cooing over Gavin's shots. Strange commentary, kind of spoiled it a bit for me.

Blackledge was in serious trouble there....he's fortunate that Dube's finishing skills were poor.

Great performance from egginton. He absolutely battered Gavin and it could have been over earlier if the ref didn't give a standing 8 count.

It's the end for Gavin, he's clearly never had the desire or determination to be a pro. He showed that he's a tough bloke in the way he got back up and tried to fight but his lack of preparation cost him against a guy who is making the most of his talent.

Stewpot as always fcuked up his announcement of the scores. He read them as 98-76

Phil Edwards had a hard nights work I'm sure he just picked 2 numbers and wrote them down

I agree the commentary was awful. I thought it was bad in the Cunningham fight but was shockingly pro-Gavin. I didn't think their scoring was unreasonably, just what they were saying

Terrible commentary ,, Crediting Gavin for shots not landed ,, don't mention Eggintons work , whats with Gavins feet ,, fighting a taller guy who likes to throw straight rights , and keeping his feet so wide he can't move quick enough ,, throwing lead right uppercuts against a orthodox with your feet so far apart ,, lucky a left hook did'nt knock him sparkers .... and they were crediting him with being a very intelligent fighter ,

I thought he was quite inaccurate with his shots and his defence to the body was very poor. Eggington was catching him with counter body shots and hurting him regularly. Getting caught with the straight 1-2 for the first knockdown was poor too. He looked pretty fragile and his shots carried little to no pop. Eggington looked a division heavier.

Yep was just stupid. He didn't box a good fight, but then he also looked like a guy who hadn't trained properly at all. If he'd trained properly then the tactics clearly would have been on your bike for 6 rounds, popping with shots and try to frustrate and outbox Eggington.

As it is, he clearly didn't have any gas in the tank, so had to stand and trade, it looked great for a while, made for a watchable fight, but I feel it was only done because he had no other option due to lack of fitness.

Good fight, but absolutely no need for a rematch, Eggington won convincingly in the end.

The Savage can look to climb the rankings and try to get some big fights now.

On the other hand Gavin can drop to light welter, giving him a new weight he can fail at.

I'm not sure how far Eggington can go after watching the fight. He's very hittable and also rather slow. He reminded me a little of a pound shop Margarito. I dont know what kind of power he's carrying either. He doesn't look the most concussive puncher. I think british or European level will be his ceiling but that's still very good and good for a guy with no real amateur background that I'm aware of.

I definietly wouldn't rematch Skeete. I think he's a guy that might always just have Sam's number.

In regards to Gavin. If he doesn't retire, fornicate knows where he goes.

Ps I thought Sam made some tactical errors at times last night aswell. I thought he stood off far too much at times triying to boxing Frankie at range and in turn Gavin was pretty comfortable when the fight was taking place at that range. Sam looked at his best when he pushed Frankie back and up against the ropes and let his hands go.
