The HBO commentary team and addiliated journalists favoured Kovalev. Neutrals like the Sky commentary team favoured Ward.
The right man won.
The right man won.

It was a close fight that could fairly be scored for either fighter.Impractical Poster wrote:Of course not because Kov won the fightjezzamundo wrote: I would not argue with anyone scoring the fight for Kovalev.

Ward won? Yea right he was dropped and outlanded. All major media (HBO, British feed) had Kov winning. But of course the phony American judges scored it for Ward.
Boxing sucks. This sport is sh1t. Everything is too political. Bad decisions are the norm.
Dont think im interested in it anymore tbh.
Then you need to watch the fight again. That score is an embarrassment to boxing.jezzamundo wrote:114-113 x 3 to Ward - the judges all had it the same as me.
A rematch would be great, but I'd much rather see Ward vs GGG.
Possibly the best fight I've ever seen live.

nonsense. Kov landed far more power shots, look at the stats!! with the knockdown in bag too..and all judges having the same score. close fight sure separated by a few points, but the home fighter was always going to get the decision...so predictable. all the press had Kov winning too. he deserves a rematch now in Russia.Lackeos wrote:No, they favored power shots with snap over tentative, glancing pitty-pat jabs.Ricky_ wrote:Boxing judges favouring spoiling, holding, fouling over punching, agression and holding the ring.
Imagine my shock.
No it couldn't. I was t a fan of either fighter so had no bias but there is no way Ward won 7 rounds.jezzamundo wrote:It was a close fight that could fairly be scored for either fighter.Impractical Poster wrote:Of course not because Kov won the fightjezzamundo wrote: I would not argue with anyone scoring the fight for Kovalev.

Perhaps - he's my favourite fighter, but his resume is lacking. Even if he beat Canelo I'd still have him behind Ward and Kovalev.Ricky_ wrote:jezzamundo wrote:Personally I had Roman Gonzales as p4p #1 before this fight. Golovkins a level above all 3.
If you actually think Kovalev landed a larger volume of really hard punches, then you didn't even see the fight. It's one thing if you think Kovalev's higher volume of glancing pitty-pat jabs had more merit than Ward's harder shots. But if you think Kovalev landed more hard shots, you didn't actually see the fight at all.Ricky_ wrote:Kovalev was the white guy.Lackeos wrote:No, they favored power shots with snap over tentative, glancing pitty-pat jabs.Ricky_ wrote:Boxing judges favouring spoiling, holding, fouling over punching, agression and holding the ring.

HBO wasn't great either TBH.Ricky_ wrote:Enlightened-One wrote:The HBO commentary team and addiliated journalists favoured Kovalev. Neutrals like the Sky commentary team favoured Ward.

Sky commentry was a bias joke. They gave Ward round 10![]()
I wanted Kovalev to win and was watching with HBO commentary, but I scored 7 rounds to Ward.p4p1 wrote:No it couldn't. Impractical Poster wrote:How times have changed. Not only did I think Kov won the fight, but the challenger is supposed to take the title, how the hell do you win a title by backing up and grabbing, gettomg out punched, and landing the harder shots?
This is true.Enlightened-One wrote:The HBO commentary team and addiliated journalists favoured Kovalev. Neutrals like the Sky commentary team favoured Ward.
