What does that post even mean?

Tysoe has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. The side effects of the medication are well documented. He by his own admission doesn't look after himself between fights.
He may struggle to even get licenced if he takes his medication.if he doesn't take it, then, well, we'be seen where that leads.
I don't think his bi-polar is that severe, personally. I used to work with people with bi-polar and they were genuinely f***ing nuts. If they were into combat sports or even weights and were just big and strong they'd have to send riot police for them. Most of them were lovely and fantastic fun if you had the energy but they were a f***ing nightmare, wouldn't sleep for days on end, thought they were millionaires, gave away everything, kicked front doors down, take on rooms of blokes... A lot of it was brought on by taking drugs, but all they'd have to do was go out for one binge and that's it, they were absoloutely mental. The fact that he hasn't been sectioned yet has been a heavy drug user speaks volumes: he's just not that unwell.

f*** working in whatever unit has to treat a hyper manic Tyson Fury detained on a section 2 or whatever. That's really a special case. He'd be banged up to the eyeballs on medication for everybody's safety (my user name, Clopixol Acuphase, is the strongest injection that you can give somebody to calm down. One jab and you're KO'd for a couple of days. If I could change it now I would but it was just what was in my head at the time). How are we supposed to put him down if he kicks off? Urgh. I often wonder how they dealt with Bruno (who I think has been sectioned in the past). It must have been very difficult. Perhaps he was a gentleman? The genuinely hard patients often are.

Anyway, what I'm saying is that there are lads that if they didn't take drugs, looked after themselves and had their people around them, they'd probably be OK and might not need to take medication. They be a bit "touched", but they wouldn't need to be on Depakote or Lithium which would mean the end of his boxing career, definitely. I think Tyson Fury is one of those people.
You're basing your opinion on what precisely?

Not that severe?

It's a lifelong condition, which has very serious comorbidities for alcohol and drug dependence, and frequent bouts of depression and lethargy, and risk taking behaviours on the upswing, and suicide.

How is that not a serious condition?
Did you read the first line of my post and not read the rest of it or something? There are different severities of bi-polar. There's the Stephen Fry, low level bi-polar, and there's bat shit crazy bi-polar. Stephen Fry did a documentary a while back where he was debating, in his 50's or whatever, whether to start taking medication. The lads I used to look after needed medicating in their late teens and early 20's, and were still regularly locked up.

I didn't say it wasn't a severe illness but comparatively Fury's bi-polar is not that severe when compared with others.

I'm basing my opinion on a degree in psychiatric nursing and 14 years of experience in various front line mental health settings. I'm probably taking out if my arse, eh?

I'm no professional, but a close friend and my brother in law have suffered with mental illness all their lives. I've spent enough time visiting them to know Tyson isn't severe bi-polar. Maybe a slight personally disorder not helped in the slightest by the fame, pressure, etc.

So when did you sit him down and do a psychiatric evaluation to make such a lofty diagnosis? You've not really got enough information to decide from a distance what assistance he needs, who knows what his life is like away from what's in the media.

I think the point I am trying to make, is that nothing is certain with regard to Fury, it depends whether or not he chooses to seek help for his condition, the severity of his condition, and his life choices.

I personally wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't return to the ring for several years, if at all, the spotlight thrust on him by the win over Wlad, seemed to tip him over the edge.

Exactly. I don't know why James is being such a dick about it to be honest.

I'm sorry, meant to apologize before now, I'm having a bit of a hard time right now as a good friend of mine is dying, and I guess I'm taking it out on other people, apologies. It's really not that important in the context of things. Forgive me. I'm in a bit of a bad mood.

You know Tyson is 25 right you don't need to medicate him.
what? What has being 25 got to do with it?

I've known several people over the years with bipolar, some in their 20's, they required medication, and when they stopped taking it, as they frequently did, it was usually followed by a period of mania or hypomania that made them do incredibly strange, and sometimes dangerous things.

Oh, and FYI - he's already 28.
I'm not saying for a second it shouldn't be administered to some but ffs mate don't jump to a conclusion based off how the boxing business plays out.
