Just watched weigh in. I know this is not fitness contest but i cannot believe someone with Kownackis physique can have serious boxing skills like he has. He need to cut at least 30 pounds
LOL! I was just watching that! He's pale as a ghost as well. Looks like he stay puffed marshmellow man.

Kownacki was five pounds lighter at 258 1/2 LBS, than when he weighed in for his fight against Charles Martin, but 13 lbs heavier than when he fought Szpilka.
Washington weighed 243¼ pounds 9 1/4 LBS heavier than when he fought John Wesley Nofire.
i'm disappointed, i expected him to weigh 250lbs

Carrying that sort of weight on his frame has to be an issue.

220 would be his ideal weight. This amount of fat surely wont help him in fight. Wont be surprised if he cannot defeat Washington.

Agreed. Washington can win this.

Washington really needs to work on relaxing in the ring, picking his pace and having some sort of mental strategy so he doesn’t just unfold when he starts breathing hard.
This kownacki bloke will make him work which is really a Washington nightmare unless he is improved. But Kown is hittable and can be outboxed so Washington also has a shot maybe only an early window to damage him however the later is goes and if no improvements then you’d think Washington will start absorbing a beating.

Kownacki is no better. IMHO. I'm NEVER saying Washington is any better than domestic level. I'm really downplaying Kownacki's prowess. How he's in the top 10-15 is beyond me. I know the division is thin, but really? He'll be exposed.
I guess the difference for me is that Kownacki has victories over Spzilka and Martin. Who i rate around 30-40. Martin hasn't really earned his ranking there, but Spzilka did beat Adamek and Wach(controversially), so he has some credibility. It's difficult whether to compare it by victories or just the eye-test because they both have their flaws. As for Kownacki being ranked top 15, unfortunately not enough top 25 boxers face other top 25 boxers and therefore beating someone in the top 25 automatically moves you top the top 10/15.
Also, i don't really rate him either, he blocks with his face and i see someone like Chisora dealing with him. The new guys coming through like Hrgovic, Kuzmin and Joyce will push him out of the top 15 when they get a couple more wins under their belts.

Nice post. Although I disagree on any weight of Spzilka; Adamek, nor Wach. Beating Martin is ok, I guess, but Martin really doesn't have any wins of note. His best win was because of a leg injury.

Adam "it's not a bodybuilding contest" Kownacki rarely leaves the gym he shares with Jarell Miller. Equipped with a full Buffet, why would he?
Here is a rare picture of him doing a street run

Guests at the weigh in today were advised to don protective eyewear as the glare from Adam "whiter shade of pale" Kownacki as he took to the stage

Yes I think this is a decent match although not an excellent match because the outcome is not in a lot of doubt. I see it as about 70/30 in favour of Kownacki. Maybe 65/35.
Now Jennings v Rivas was an excellent match before and during because I didn't have a scooby who was going to win from the moment when the fight was first mentioned a month or two before, right up to round nine or so when I decided who was going to win ... and then I was wrong anyway.
Your honesty is admirable! Washington by decision here. He has a new trainer and new, more aggressive style (we'll see how that goes under fire).
Thanks Oogie I always try to be honest. Of course that's not to say I don't have my biasses and prejudices but they were come-by honestly and I'm true to them
Good for you sticking to your guns despite the weight of contrary opinion

Kownacki is not great, but entertaining, i sometimes compare him with other USA-Based Polish fighters, he's HW version of Andrzej Fonfara or Paweł Wolak, he's entertaining, let's his hands go, his only defence is his face, he is not great but he will convincingly beat Washington

Agreed. Washington can win this.
You've convinced me.
10/1 Washington to win by dec is a huge price. Washington is flaky and unreliable - he'll doubtless find a way to lose even if he gets his nose in front, but still that's big odds. He only needs to have a good night and stick to his boxing and he takes this on length.
Kownacki is little more than a rich man's Dave Allen after all.

True. I'm hoping he/his team have learned that lesson and we get a decent fight. I'm not fussed who wins really, but a nice 10-12 rounds of B level HW action would be good to start the year.

Nyambayar looks too powerful.
Hopefully Marrero gives up trying to win and focuses on going the distance.

Hurt Marrero a couple of times in that round.
