I would go even as well if the official judges ever did anymore.

Oddly enough, I think more even rounds in bullshit decisions would look moderately less suspect. I'm really not into it enough to score the close rounds anymore.

So my score was 117-111 Golovkin, if you give Canelo the benefit of the doubt on every single close round then you have a 114-114 Draw.

So having him as the winner means you're just awarding him a round he clearly didn't win somewhere in there.

117-111 was my card too.

Last time I scored some even rounds I believe was Vernon Forrest vs Mosley 2 and Chris Byrd vs Davarryl Williamson

In both of those cases it was pretty much a matter of the round f*cking sucked. Neither guy did jack sh*t, and I can't possibly find ANYTHING to give it to either one of them.

Later on today I may check the Derevyanchenko fight as well since it was also very close as I understand it, and I never got to see that one. It would appear it's readily available for me to watch

I know what you mean. When you're basically watching a very competitive fight, evenly matched fight, but one guy keeps having the slightest edge you may give a guy a round just because you feel like he should have one because the fight has been competitive enough that a shutout just doesn't sound right in your mind.

I try to just take each round for what it is, but I know what you mean by that definitely.

I know what you mean. Of course, ironically, the first fight like this that comes to mind is jmm/mab, and invariably with that type fight I'm feeling a little over the top at 10-2 only to find people have the other guy winning!

All you can do is call 'em like you see 'em, and acknowledge that there were many close rounds I figure. I have Marquez vs Barrera somewhere around here on DVD, I wanna say I had it 116-112 Marquez but it's been so long I can't say for sure.

Yeah I figured so. Maddalone seems like the kinda style that would play right into all the strengths of even a past his prime Holyfield.

Oldyfield had some vicious knock outs and good fights mid 40's after he healed up his shoulder. Nielsen, Botha and savarese were all entertaining. I'll never understand how Lou got up.

The Savarese fight was the best performance of shot Holy, after the Lewis rivaly.

Yeh. It probably happens to the most of us. But you’re right. Unless it’s the opening 2 rounds, which is when I usually do score even rounds, in every other round, one boxer will do more to win a round.

Effectiveness, attack, defense, technique and sportsmanship are fundamental to implementing the five levels of the voting method. Then you have ring generalship.

Sportsmanship? Obviously a lack of it can cost you points but there is no scoring criteria in your benefit.

Yeah I'd agree those were probably the last few fights where he was able to perform at that level.

dont know how people rate munguia, that is an easy night work for triple g , he is way to easy to hit, he doesnt carry much power , gases too and not a good boxer

DALLAS—Oscar de la Hoya and his Golden Boy Promotions company are ready to re-enter the Gennadiy Golovkin business.

Discussions remain ongoing for a middleweight title fight between Kazakhstan’s Golovkin (41-1-1, 36 KOs) and Jaime Munguia (36-0, 29 KOs), with such a clash eyed for mid-spring to air live on DAZN. Munguia—a former 154-pound titlist —picked up his second straight win at middleweight following a 6th round stoppage of Tureano Johnson last October. Golovkin scored a 7th round stoppage of unbeaten mandatory challenger Kamil Szeremeta in the first defense of his second title reign on Dec. 18th in Hollywood, Florida.

Soon after Golovkin’s win began talks for a showdown with the unbeaten Tijuana native who is co-promoted by Golden Boy and Zanfer Promotions.

“That’s the fight that we’re working on,” de la Hoya told Boxing Scene. “That’s the fight that everyone’s interested in.”

Such a matchup was pursued nearly three years ago, when Munguia was ready to face Golovkin on short notice in place of countryman Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez (54-1-2, 36 KOs) who tested positive for Clenbuterol ahead of their planned May 2018 rematch in Las Vegas. Munguia was 28-0 at the time, but just a 21-year old pup who’d yet to face anyone on the title level, never mind a pound-for-pound talent such as Golovkin.

The suggested fight was rejected by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, leaving Las Vegas without a major fight show on Cinco de Mayo weekend for the first time since 2002. Golovkin took his act to Southern California, slaughtering Vanes Martirosyan inside of two rounds, while Munguia won a 154-pound title one week later in a May 2018 4th round knockout of Sadam Ali in Verona, New York.

Five successful defenses followed for Munguia, with his six-fight title reign spanning a mere 16 months before the 24-year old—who stands 6’0”—outgrew the division. Two middleweight wins later, he is ready to take on the best that the division has to offer.
