Did anyone else think how slow both of them looked last night? I thought their punches were like they had weights on their wrists.

Personally I didn’t see much wrong with how fast or slow they were. We got a good fight.
Few listen to logic round these parts.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑19 Oct 2019, 00:26You should've come ahead of time and sprinkled your wisdomImpractical Poster wrote: ↑19 Oct 2019, 00:25 I haven't been keeping up too much with the current section lately. I still keep up with the big names. I was saying I haven't been keeping up with the current section of this boxing forum.lazboy wrote: ↑19 Oct 2019, 00:35You’re wasting away your life not keeping up with the current scene. Not only that. He did not have enough jugement to stop the fight when we all saw Gvozdiy was exhausted and could not defend himself.... as a result, Gvozdyk had to spend two days at the hospital.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑19 Oct 2019, 00:49Probably felt pressured hahamargaret thatcher wrote: ↑19 Oct 2019, 00:48
Calls a KD when there wasn't any, then doesn't call a legit KD when Bert actually got it lol.
What exactly don't you like?
Maybe that Sam Peter is a shot slob and not a good opponent?
Maybeboxing_rocks wrote: ↑21 Oct 2019, 00:01 Just rewatched the fight. I would definitely blame Atlas for picking a wrong game plan. Gvozdyk was putting too much power into his punches in the first half of the fight which tired him and made him an easy target after round 8. I think his only chance was to run and touch keeping enough gas for 12 rounds. Of course Beterbiev's body work was a factor, but even that work wouldn't be as successful if Gvozdyk was concentrating on defense.
Peter had been a very decent HW (long time ago). He should have been retired five years (at least) ago.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑21 Oct 2019, 00:03Maybe that Sam Peter is a shot slob and not a good opponent?
I disagree that Gvo looked the slicker boxer, Beterbiev floated around the ring like Federer on a tennis court. It's rare to see someone look so light on their fight but so heavy in the hands. Brilliant fighter.Evander wrote: ↑20 Oct 2019, 20:12 That was an amazing fight the other night, one of the best I have seen this year.
I thought Gvozdyk was the more accomplished all around boxer of the two, But Beterbiev's relentlessness, will to win and power took him over the top.
It was quite a brutal fight and I found myself thinking it should have been halted a round or two before the stoppage.
Good performances by both of them and obviously Beterbiev comes out of it looking better, but Gvozdyk has nothing to be ashamed of whatsoever,he gave it everything.
Fantastic fight.
Beterbiev didn't respect Gvozdyk power even early on. He would have walked over him even faster if Gvozdyk would have tried to jab and dance.Evander wrote: ↑21 Oct 2019, 00:22Maybeboxing_rocks wrote: ↑21 Oct 2019, 00:01 Just rewatched the fight. Gvozdyk was well prepared in terms of his skills, he wasn't a one trick pony.
He landed flush shots, had a chin and was athletic enough to hold his own from the outside when he needed to, he was a live opponent.
Game plan for Gvozdyk wasn't out of the ordinary so it's a stretch to put it on Atlas, just got beat by the better guy![]()
Beterbiev was finding Gvozdyk in front of him when Gvozdyk was engaging. Less engaging and more moving would make it much harder to find him. Atlas should have told him to fight like Lara against Canelo.Jaywheel wrote: ↑22 Oct 2019, 09:51Beterbiev didn't respect Gvozdyk power even early on. He respected Gvozdyk's power and skills but up to a certain point, Gvozdyk was in the fight and might have been winning it at one point.Jaywheel wrote: ↑22 Oct 2019, 09:51Beterbiev didn't respect Gvozdyk power even early on.
