Spence, Porter and Golovkin is 3 great names to have on the slate, but I agree with you. He always seemed like he was just about to set the world alight and it never quite happened
Definitely, I do think 2 things played a part. Firstly he should have been fighting at light middle. Looking at him v Golovkin that was not a chunked up welter, he looked like a guy who could certainly be a natural at 154 and maybe 160. For me the performance v Golovkin would have beaten all bar him and Alvarez at either weight. Secondly he's spent so long waiting on Khan, he should have just called his bluff and said do it now or I move on. Again just my opinion but I think he's got the speed, skills and power to level Khan within 6 rounds. I wonder if that kept him at welter far too long (obviously the holiday incident etc didn't help).
That’s about what I think, but if you can make welter you can make welter, he’s right to try and be at the lower weight. Getting stabbed would set anyone back wouldn’t it.
RE: Khan, I’m absolutely over it. Hope they never fight and everyone forgets all about it
Having said that, his slickness, switching and timing were (still are really) something special.

Did anyone think brook was ever gonna he special? I thought he struggled against that Carson dude. Would always be world level but I want gonna be Naz
After the Carson fight I thought he had peaked, and afterwards I was pleasantly surprised with his career - I think he just about reached his potential as a world class but not world beating boxer.

I think he sees the good in a lot of white people at the same time as feeling victimised by racists, making him a transient racist depending on what sort of day he's having when you catch him. Same goes for Wilder.
Is Benn beating Froch unpopular? Can't remember the consensus, but I know it's come up a few times. I'll go with it, anyway: I think Benn outdoes him up close. This is the later Benn of the Eubank rematch.

I think Froch would KO Benn around the 6th round, too big, too strong and will be able to take everything Benn threw at him.

I always thought the same.
Benn would have been tailor made for Froch.
Opponents with hand speed who could punch in combination usually gave Froch trouble (Groves, Pascal, Taylor). Arthur Abraham was more tailor made for Froch IMO.
But I do agree the size and strength advantage would probably be the deciding factor. Could have ended like the Bute fight.

I think any version of Benn would get hammered by froch. Too big, too strong, too durable.
That said, I would watch it and root for Nigel
Difficult to see anyone beating Benn the night he beat McCllenan, his nights against Malinga though....

I don't agree. McLellan used his chin as his defence throughout his career, and had been suffering terrible headaches prior to the fight.
Plenty of people would have beaten Benn that night, he was frankly fortunate to make it out of the first round, due to the incompetence of the referee.
McLellan was a very good fighter, but he had serious flaws.
A prime Toney or Jones Jr at 168 would have absolutely mullered Benn, any version of him.

Doubt Benn ever beats prime 168 RJJ for example. Benn fought like a beast but let's be honest, there were still lots of holes there and a guy like RJJ or Toney wouldnt come out bombing with him

Toney was a superior fighter overall but man did he have plenty of off nights himself, I'm inclined to give Benn an outside chance. JT had a tough fight with Chuck Williams at 168, then lost to Roy (no shame), then straight after to Montell Griffin

I think Toney is one of the most overrated fighters of all time.

He was awesome when he was on but he had so many uninspiring nights where he just got by or sometimes got a gift
Yeah Barkley Jirov Holy (and I’d add PC Williams) are the signature near-untouchable performances with Nunn and McCallum 1 being excellent wins. Big drop off thereafter though unless my memory fails (again)

He did ‘beat’ Ruiz for the WBA title as well, for what that’s worth.
