I think the Duran rematch is more superior than anything Floyd did at welterweight. Duran had to be P4P 1 after edging Leonard the first time and was what 72-1?
I don't, only based on circumstances. Duran flat out quit and tainted that entire fight and robbed Leonard of the revenge he truly deserved.

Had Duran not quit I would agree. Due to the circumstances, I can't see how him beating a quieter is greater than anything Floyd accomplished.

Although I understand it's not of any fault of Leonards.
Leonard made him quit, a 72-1 fighter. Whether he did or not, the win was still a great win. I bet if Floyd made Pacquiao quit, no one would be saying that the win didn't matter.
Itr still wouldn't matter. The excuse of Pacquiao not being prime would come up. Please see some of these previous post.

I didn't say the win didn't matter. But in the manner Duran quit tainted that fight. And if Pacquaio quit in the most cowardice way like Duran did in the 2nd Leonard fight, the win wouldn't be nearly as significant.

In theory that's true, but Pacquiao's style changed in those 5 years more than Floyd's had.
Now Pacquiao style is the reason he lost come on stop.
Pacquiao over the years transformed into more a boxer. He needed to be reckless against Floyd like Maidana was.
Pacquaio was never reckless. The fact that he needed to fight a different way he would never won. He never really beat Marquez clean with his peak style so result would have been the same.

No one said the Pacquiao win didn't matter, just that he wasn't the same as he was 5 years prior, which is true.

I just got the feeling if Pacquaio would have won this point wouldn't be true which shows hella bias in public perception though both was outside of prime.

Not really as time went on, it was apparent that whoever beats Floyd, it would be if Floyd is shot or not.
If not, it would only be because Pacquiao is seen as an inferior boxer, beating a superior one, even if both have declined.

Whilst you're busy implying that Pacquiao was juicing, what about Mayweather?

As far as we know, neither failed a test, but do you believe he was clean?

A yes or no answer will do, thank you.

What does it really matter what Duran's mythical P4P status was at the time? He quit in one of the most shameful ways we've ever seen a top fighter quit.

Floyd at least beat a Pacquaio that tried to win.

I don't get the bias if FLoyd would have did what Duran. Floyd would be considered a quitter and not great but some can do it and get away with it.

A dude quitting is a reflection of what his opponent was doing to him, when they fought the first time Duran didn't quit, lol I wonder why!

It acatually makes it more impressive, Duran was generally a warrior and only Leonard did that to him, Ray outboxed him and broke his soul that night

They I agree in a sense. You can't just be a warrior in the physical aspect also in the mental game and sometimes we overstate the physical aspect and show enough for fighters sticking in even though outgunned and embarassed.

Duran wasn't beat up and battered around the ring. He wasn't even really out of the fight, he just straight up quit. So Duran's shameful act of whatever the fornicate that was reflects Leonard's greatness?

I have to disagree, it only proves at that point Duran committed a boxing sin and straight up robbed Leonard of a fair chance at true revenge.

At least he got in the ring with Leonard and quit. He didn't quit by taking time off to avoid a tough boom in his weight class.

Maybe it was the shoulder, maybe it was his age, but very seldomly did he try to sell out to win. Cotto took more risks against Floyd and Cotto is more susceptible to being stopped than Pacquiao is.

Could just be a styles make fights thing.

I don't buy the shoulder excuse. I think that was just his way of lobbying for a rematch.
