It depends on Spence. He foolishly made the Porter fight harder than it should have been. If he goes toe to toe he may get caught like Thurman but will still win due to his accuracy, skill, chin, and volume. He could box and nearly shut Pac out too. I hope we see some of both but no way Spence loses this one. It will be fun to watch.

Odds will be close enough to make big bucks on Spence.

Back in May, Sampson Lewkowicz revealed that towering super welterweight Sebastian Fundora signed to fight former European champ Sergio Garcia on FOX, and now the fight appears to have a home. Spanish boxing site Espabox reports that the two will square off in a WBC eliminator on PBC’s August 21st Errol Spence Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao card.

Reliable Twitter poster Deuce revealed the arrangement earlier this afternoon. According to Espabox, this is the latest of many potential dates, as they’d previously targeted August 7th.

Fundora (17-0-1, 12 KO) is looking to graduate from prospect to contender against Garcia (33-0, 14 KO), who ran roughshod over Ted Cheeseman in his second of four European title defenses back in 2019. Though obviously talented, the Spaniard has been short on quality opposition lately, making this a mutually beneficial arrangement.

Plus, it should be plenty fun.

Whoever wins will likely have next crack at the WBC title after #1 contender Erickson Lubin. Should the winner of Jermell Charlo vs. Brian Castano this weekend elect to vacate, expect either #4 Fundora or #2 Garcia to face “The Hammer” for the title.

Manny Pacquiao won’t be the only Filipino slugger on PBC’s August 21st pay-per-view. Mike Coppinger, confirming an earlier report from Keith Idec, claims that unbeaten featherweight Mark Magsayo will meet former super bantamweight titlist Julio Ceja before Pacquiao’s clash with Errol Spence.

As Coppinger states, this is a considerable step up for the 26-year-old Magsayo (22-0, 15 KO). “Magnifico” had all sorts of trouble with Rigoberto Hermosillo last October, and while Ceja (32-4-1, 28 KO) is a career 122-pounder who hasn’t fought since a brutal November 2019 split draw against Brandon Figueroa due to COVID scrapping a planned eliminator against Eduardo Ramirez, he’s a proven scrapper with legitimate power.

Less than a month from fight night, there remain two open slots on the four-fight main card. Towering prospect Sebastian Fundora will reportedly face former European champion Sergio Garcia in a super welterweight eliminator, but we’ve yet to receive official confirmation.

I still can't find any official confirmation of VADA administering the random unannounced blood-based drug testing.

And nor can I find any official confirmation that the testing itself will be performed by VADA (according to their rules and standards).

This piece of information is valuable to determine Pacquiao’s potential competitiveness against Spence Jr.

It’s possible that Pacquiao has been training hard and taking all sorts of PED’s over the last two (without any out-of-competition drug testing being performed), whilst not having to undergo particularly stringent drug testing for the Spence Jr. fight.

I’m not being funny, but the VADA drug testing is the massive elephant in the room that’s not being discussed by fight fans nor the media.

An upset is entirely feasible if Pacquiao has exploited the lack of PED testing, but if the Filipino is clean, then he could end up losing a one-sided fight.

There's something to be said for what Victor Conte mentioned a few years ago. (About if you get caught with peds) He said it is more of an IQ test of a boxer and his team than anything. Only unannounced year round random tests will catch the smart ones.

It's still fair because Spence can take all sorts of PEDs he needs also. Remember, he probably still had ailements from the accident.

I suspect Manny has taken far fewer tests than Spence Jr. has over the last five years or so. And the Filipino probably gets tested less frequently than Errol does per bout.

There is a reason I'm sure why the first leg of his training is done in his home country. Floyd finally exposed team Pac by wanting random testing....with their phony excuses. "Prime" Pac never had random testing. Since then, one KO? No testing for Thurman fight? Pac looks "Prime" again. Go figure. Smart team?
