Is it going to be like Fenech/Nelson 3? One party trains really for months and hard charges, and the other turned up thinking it was a gentle knock around. Maybe Hatton should have picked Anthony Mundine for a vague bit more interest. Barrera is such a weird choice.

Hatton is genuinely one of my all time faves and I’ve currently just got around to his book.

Boy is he thick as fook.

Talking about Witter… he says he didn’t wanna fight him because he was pissed off and didn’t wanna give him a chance then 3/4 lines later he finishes the chapter by stating he always wanted to fight him but the timing was never right.

At the time I think it was Hatton ranked number one with Eamonn Magee 2 and Witter and Thaxton at 3 and 4, Hatton Magee and Thaxton all fought eachother, and Witter wouldn't fight Magee , I think because of the stagnant years Hatton had with Warren and the WBU it kind of went into history that Hatton ducked Witter even though Hatton was always a step ahead and had moved on by the time Witter stepped up to world class

witter held the WBC when Hatton lost to Floyd. he was the perfect comeback opponent. but ricky shat it and fought the lightweight mexican instead (and got wobbled).

I don’t blame Hatton for not fighting Witter.

Witter was so rude and disrespectful and he knew the only payday was Ricky. Remember Ingle and Witter after the Hatton-Thaxton fight? Especially as Jon had put up such a good fight and was a stablemate to Witter. I can see why Ricky didn’t want to bring him into the millionaire’s club

And Ricky’s management steered him away as Witter was a dangerous fight.

Makes sense why Witter dycked Magee at the time

Eamonn Magee battered Thaxton in 6 in a ferocious showing after Thaxton went all out with Hatton, Magee fought Hatton, dropped him, then got outworked down the stretch, Magee was the number two danger man at the time, and had a little altercation with himoutside the ring where apparently Witter wanted none of him (few did) Witter was fighting Giuseppe Lauri around that time??
