beforehand and made himself a huge target, open to ridicule if he lost…boxers do that, put it all on the line

In other sports they talk themselves down.

Don't really like that stoppage, very British, I know Adeleye's legs were gone and he was nearly ready to go but i thought it was a tad early, it was a decent fight, competitive early, Adeleye was dangerous with that left hook, looked the more dangerous of the two but Wardley was more methodical in his approach, tried to get his jab going and land the right to the body, cagey stuff with the odd explosion, Adeleye began to visibly tire and Wardley got more into a groove, he hurt Adeleye in the 6th and looked the boss, found the breakthrough in the 7th, cracking knockdown, right hand/left hook put Adeleye on his back, Wardley pouring it on and had Adeleye hurt when ref jumped in, not great reffing imo but I'd imagine a lot of people don't mind it

horrible stoppage by?the ref, running and jumping on him like he had to save his life.
seconds before the end of the round when adelye wasn't even hit with a clean punch after the knockdown.

knockdown was a beauty, not taking away anything from wardley, but really unnecessary stoppage of a good fight which would have deserved a clean finish.

i know the ref has to decide in a split second if he stops it or not.

Watch the replay, Little D stumbled into the ropes after getting hit multiple times with no ability to defend himself.

There did seem a possibility that Adeleye could get past that storm as it was happening, and to his credit he wasn’t just a sitting duck when the action resumed after the knockdown, he was trying to throw back.

Maybe if Adeleye hadn’t stumbled the ref might have given it a few more seconds. But Wardley was the boss by that stage anyway, he surely would have finished him sooner rather than later.

Maybe, but I don't think he was trying to talk it up. I think he knew Wardley was a big threat and tried to intimidate him with the roadman act in the build up.

Wardley may as well have been wearing a suit and tie the way he handled business

i just watched the last round again and yeah it's a bit early, but only early as in maybe some of us wanted to see Adeleye fully sparked out, which would have happened. and I don't really want to see him being carried away on a stretcher even if he was a bit of a knob before and after this bout

adeleye wasn't remotely out on his feet or even buzzed, had his hands up and his focus still on wardley even while stumbling into the ropes when the ref overambitiously stopped the fight.

could have gave him a standing 8 count to check on him. whatever.
