agree with all but Hussain.

he turned it round. and certainly didnt give a shit about the establishment and instilled a more hardnosed attitude.

other than that spot on mate. Its a disease the British are finally starting to get rid of, finally. We uised to love a gallant loser but hate an arrogant winner, Bruno and Lewis are aperfect example. (though there are always other factors as well).

Was just going to say the same, I think we are actually try to dispel the 'losers' mentality from our sports stars.

Unfortunately until we actually win something major we will always be seens as the proverbial 'good losers'

Well doing things like banning competitive sports days from school hasn’t/won’t help. All this crap about “you must not BEAT someone else, or you might upset them” twaty attitude that is being bred into our kids means many sports risk having a bleak future unfortunately.

The Aussie attitude towards sport really is awesome. YOU..PLAY..TO..WIN.

End of.

Our swimmers at the recent world championships are an obvious example. What a total joke. This Bill Sweetenham bloke as their head trainers seems to have done sod all. Apparently they are all flying in training, and then come Athens 2004, or the world champs they get nowt…

And don’t even get me started on Tennis…. I wish to Christ that Henman would f*ck off.

One of the best t-shirts I have is bottle green with small yellow lettering where a crest would be, reading 'Australia, Rugby World Cup 2003, Runners-up'

My daughter's school had there sports day a couple of weeks back and it was good to hear the headmaster say we still agree that Sports Days' should be competitive, but they do it as team events rather than individuals. Still no Dad's races though.. :(

I'm in favour of wholly competitive sports days.

In fact I'd go one further and insist that the fat, lazy playstation kids are laughed at and tormented..and then all the other kids can fall in and give them a good pasting!!!

Draconian maybe... but would you choose to be a fat lazy bastard as a kid? No way! :TU:

Probably a good job Kev last time you ran a hundred yards was from the York hall to the pub to get the pre closing time

Loftgroov you are staring to worry me mate? Bath fan hates henman............eerie :o just playing. :TU:

totally agree, but it seems the PC brigade might be in for a sharp shock over the coming few years. The other thursday changed all that and it will be far reaching.

Especially with the Olympics coming up, sport is gonna be pushed like nothin tomorow in this country. Good bout time. :TU:

Well I hope it is pushed. I know Sport England (I think?) are asking for at least an extra £20m a year between now and 2012... but not sure there has been a decision yet...

Imagine a country like ours (world's 5th largest economy??) HOSTING the games and only winning a small handful gold medals...

:( :( :( :( ...you can so see it happening. It would be hugely embarassing (to me)

What was Warne doing? The aussies are not batting well at all - Giles 3 wickets say no more. Has to be one of the worst 'spinners' in the world.

shane had to "make a fone call" i think at half four.

agreed tho the aussies seem to be getitng themselves out rather than being outskilled.

a lead of 80-100 would be very handy.

Handy indeed as long as they can get a decent score. There will be plenty of time with three days left to get a decent score. Even with a 80-100 run lead they'll still need at least 350 in the second innings I reckon. I doubt the Aussies will get 400+ on days 4 & 5.

Always have to worry England might have a pitiful innings next the wicket has definitely offered more to the bowlers than it did yesterday.

Bloody Aussies :o :o we needed at least 400 i think it will be hard to make more than 350 in the second innings.

Austrailia 144 for 7 2nd innings, great fightback from England after a bad 2nd innings. Game not over yet though. Maybe this seris might be closer than we all thought ? By the way the Springboks mauled the All Blacks 22 - 16 in the Tri-nations rugby union today, could be the day of the under dog :TU:
