Well doing things like banning competitive sports days from school hasn’t/won’t help. All this crap about “you must not BEAT someone else, or you might upset them” twaty attitude that is being bred into our kids means many sports risk having a bleak future unfortunately.

The Aussie attitude towards sport really is awesome. YOU..PLAY..TO..WIN.

Our swimmers at the recent world championships are an obvious example. What a total joke. This Bill Sweetenham bloke as their head trainers seems to have done sod all. Apparently they are all flying in training, and then come Athens 2004, or the world champs they get nowt…

And don’t even get me started on Tennis…. I wish to Christ that Henman would f*ck off.

My daughter's school had there sports day a couple of weeks back and it was good to hear the headmaster say we still agree that Sports Days' should be competitive, but they do it as team events rather than individuals. Still no Dad's races though.. :(

I'm in favour of wholly competitive sports days.

In fact I'd go one further and insist that the fat, lazy playstation kids are laughed at and tormented..and then all the other kids can fall in and give them a good pasting!!!

Well I hope it is pushed. I know Sport England (I think?) are asking for at least an extra £20m a year between now and 2012... but not sure there has been a decision yet...

Handy indeed as long as they can get a decent score. There will be plenty of time with three days left to get a decent score. Even with a 80-100 run lead they'll still need at least 350 in the second innings I reckon. I doubt the Aussies will get 400+ on days 4 & 5.

Always have to worry England might have a pitiful innings next the wicket has definitely offered more to the bowlers than it did yesterday.
