Glen has took fights in the past on short notice, 6 weeks aint that bad.
I just think he should accept offer, or decline but stop messing about.

Article from BBC.

Warren's Calzaghe foe frustration

Calzaghe's profile has risen, but finding a foe is still a problem
Promoter allegedly has spoken of his trouble in getting a suitable opponent for Joe Calzaghe's big 8 July show at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.

"Wherever we have turned guys have then gone and been beaten," said Warren.

"We've got two American-based boxers lined up, I'll sit down and talk with Joe and we will make a decision soon."

An announcement on the challenger for the 34-year-old Welshman's WBO and IBF super middleweight titles has been delayed three times already.

"We looked at Allan Green and he took a fight and went down in the third round, so he went by the wayside," said Warren.

"Librado Andrade didn't fancy it, Mikkel Kessler was supposed to be fighting in June but he's pulled something so he's out.

"Yusef Mack is another one we've looked at but he got beat over the weekend.

"We talked to the guy who beat Howard Eastman [Edison Miranda] and his management said yes, but then he turned down the fight."

Maybe people are thinking twice after seeing my last performance against Jeff Lacy

Joe Calzaghe

Calzaghe was philosophical about the delay, saying: "I've been through it before.

"Maybe people are thinking twice after seeing my last performance against Jeff Lacy.

"People have been asking for too much money, but that's part and parcel of boxing."

Assuming Calzaghe wins on 8 July, Warren is planning a super-fight for the Newbridge man in the autumn.

The winners of Antonio Tarver's clash with Bernard Hopkins and Jermaine Taylor's fight with Ronald 'Winky' Wright are likely to be in the mix.

At the July Millennium Stadium bout, Danny Williams' heavyweight rematch against Matt Skelton and Amir Khan's next bout will be on the undercard.

WBU cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli is also expected to fight for the interim WBO title and Gary Lockett is set to meet Ryan Rhodes for the WBU middleweight crown.

Bradley Pryce makes his first Commonwealth light middleweight defence, Tony Doherty faces Taz Jones for the Celtic welterweight title, and Gavin Rees challenges Scot Martin Watson for the Celtic lightweight crown.

Warren has confirmed that more than 13,000 tickets have already been sold for the Millennium Stadium show.

At that time he was at risk of slipping into journeyman territory, had to take what he could get. He's not in this situation now.

Again, the ones messing here are your buddies.

I think for this date it's simply too late. Have a tune-up and don't try to sell it as if the fight would define Joe's greatness.

Otherwise the #1 on my list is Kessler (as you surely know), but any of Mundine, Beyer, Adamek, Tarver, Glencoffe, Erdei, Woods, Briggs would do.

This is a decent list to chose from, in'it?

Yeah, but as u said its just not been possible for this fight. Apparently Kessler is unable to fight at the moment. Im not sure they are selling it as a fight that will define his greatness. Wrongly or rightly, Joe feels he has already done that.

I suppose patience is needed, as any boxer they get lined up now will not be top class and therefore, open for criticism.

Johnson's fornicating around. says he's not taking the fight unless he gets paid up front. he's got a chance to fight on a massive stage, against a smaller man, so Glen may have scuppered this one.
He hasn't fought at 168 now for a good few years, since losing a close decision to Mundine. I wouldn't say Winky beat him soundly, first time I scored it a draw, second time scored it 115-113, just one round split it for me, Soliman put up a good fight with his windmill style.

Interesting that Duane Ford fucked the scoring up AGAIN at 117-110 that was a joke I thought.

Agree that Glencoffe should stop fornicating around, he'll get alot more fighting Joe than he would for a third fight with Woods.
They screwed him before; and he's a reputation to defend - so he won't take a fight with 5 weeks notice.

The ones fornicating around are Calzaghe and Warren - as usual. The embarassing thing is that this time it's very obvious. I suppose they should just cancel this fight and go back to the drawing board.
definitely, if johnson would get screwed this time, Woods would be freed up from his mandatory & have to fight someone else. so yes, there is a lot on the line. but glengoffe fucked himself this time. the fight was there to take, Warren must be desperate to line up a foe with the fight so close, and Johnson didn't take it it appears. he has to be joking if he thinks he can get paid befre the fight

He wanted half his purse up front, under the circumstances is that such a big ask? Calzaghe pulled out twice on him before dont forget and he incurred training expenses and got fook all from Sports Network. I really dont blame him one bit.

Come on, you don't mean this in serious.

A fight on five weeks notice places the challenger at a huge disadvantage, especially against a southpaw.

News got out about possible Johnson fight last week, that makes it 7 weeks prep, training. How much do you think Warren offered them?

If I was in his shoes, I would take the fight, its small risk big reward.

(if he does lose, so be it, no shame in losing to the best 168'br plus he already has 10 losses on his record but however if he wins, he will be back in prime P4P contention with BIG payday's on the horizon)

Are you saying 7 weeks isnt enough for a guy who looks after his body between fight like Johnson does?

In the old days fighters used to train 6 weeks for a 15 rounder.

7 weeks is plenty

but it isn't seven weeks, it is six... Mack had agreed to the fight for Joe but was KO'd one week ago today... that means Johnson wouldn't have even been asked until Monday at the VERY earliest...

Thanks to Joe pulling out though is the reason why he got his big fight with Roy Jones.

I would also add Bute to the list.

But - yes, anything else would be a huge let down.

thing is, you don't get paid till you've done your work. johnson knows that and he's pissed away a Big fight opportunity. i hope to fornicate his promoters don't win purse bids for Woods III. Woods IMO will do a better job on him than Calzaghe at this point. he's so much sharper and stronger than he used to be.but home fighters get away with anything in florida, incl bum decisions

is 6 weeks enough, for a guy who looks after his body? i don't think johnson lives a spartan existence between fights. but hey he's been taking fights on 3 weeks notice for much of his career. 6 would seem a luxury - relatively. but now he's a light heavy and i hear his weight balloons a tad

You are the one who is pathetic. You claim not to be connected to Fight Academy, yet you are blowing their trumpet shamelessly. Like hell your not connected to them. If your boss paid Warren what he owed him Warren might be able to spend a bit more on his cards.

"I'm pleading with you Frank, please dont make me bankrupt" Thats what your boss said to Warren. Fight Academy? What Jokers. Warren puts his own cards on himself. FA involve all and sundry and carve the pie up so much they are lucky to be left with a crust.

You also show that you are as green as your promoter friends by assuming that Warren only asks one fighter at a time. He would have offered the fight to 3 or four guys all at once to keep his options open

So if this is the case ... why hasn't the opponent been named??

Why is it okay for all the criticisms to continue in The News Of The World and yet it seems it is not okay to criticise allegedly??

In the other parts of your post you mention you know certain things ... you are talking out of your arse ... because "in my opinion" if Mr Warren was owed what you say he is ... he would have taken extrodinary lengths to ensure he received what he was due.

So please do not come on here making out you know the FACTS because you are like the rest of us ... you know f*ck all!!!

Anyhow back to my question ... but before I do ... have to agree with you about Paul Power ... he is a knob!!!

Dear Graham Brett... I wish I did have a job in boxing so I could quit studying for my 2nd year exams (which I am allegedly doing now) but right now I don't... I do plan on writing to promoters next summer asking for work experience and I do believe I will work in boxing one day... I've written to the Board about work experience in the past but they've never got back to me!.... read all my posts here and elsewhere and you'll see I've dissed Fight Academy, Barry Hearn, Gary Shaw, Hobson and even Don King (and I've never paid to see a DKP show and walked away feeling ripped off) as well as Mr Warren... you MUST have a job with with Warren if you think he alone in all of boxing is beyond critique... WARREN is the one who started slagging off Ricky's opponent (I am a HATTON fan, not a FA fan!) and lack of preparation etc etc but now WARREN looks worse now Calzaghe has only five whole weeks to prepare for his next fight... Warren started throwing sh*t around and now he's the one who stinks...

As for your points, such as they are... by attacking the arguer (ie me, calling me pathetic) and not the argument itself (Frank made himself look like an arse by saying FA/Hatton f-ed up and then immediatly made a worse F-up of July 8th) just proves you know I am 100% right!

I couldn't give a F what "my boss" Hobson said to your boss Warren... my boss is Andrew Prince, Saturday (8am - 4pm) shift manager, KFC, Liverpool and I don't he's ever even met Frank, dickhead...

And as the other guy said, if Warren has "asked" three opponents last week to fight Joe how come we are about to start ANOTHER WEEK AND STILL NO FOE FOR JOE!??!?!?!?!??!?!?!

"Keeping options open"?!?!?!?!?! Until when, the weigh-in????? THIS IS PATHETIC - please try to explain - I dare you - why this whole July 8 situation isn't pathetic and embarrassing for allegedly. You really thing this is normal for an alleged HBO level promoter???????????????????

You are being a bit disrespectful to Graham mate. He did work with Warren about 20 years ago. Frank was his manager. in the early 80's Bretty was one of the country's top lightweights in the ABA's

I reckon he is backing up Warren because he knows him and is loyal beacuse Warren treated him well

As you siad you are only a kid, so if you are balanced why such anti Warren feeling?

You aint cutting it son!
