this is a very tricky one.
i think either one beats the other if it's in they're own hometown.
if it's in some random spot like MSG,then probably whoever has the better night or whoever gets spurred on better by the cheers of they're supporters.i think that the determining factor would be very pyschologically based since both boxers are technicians rather than bangers.
I'd give a slight edge to lynch if the fights in a random location and it's sceduled for 12.He has a bit more pop,is bigger, and can obviously box really well, much like canto.
Canto's a Really Gritty Mexican Warrior though,so he's probably just a tad bit tougher mentally than Lynch, the Scotsman, who obviously has tenderish skin as well.Probably could wind up a draw, especially if it's sceduled for 15,since lynch had 15 of em and canto won alot of close decisions himself.
I'll say, providing it's a 15 rounder, the commentators rule it a draw. Most of the fans see it Basically Even,But Lynch gets the nod by one point in a razor thin SD victory.
Needless to say,a mandatory rematch is the immediete decision of both camps and the Promoters alike.

Oh...i forgot to add,It'd be ruled as flyweight fight of the year for certain!
next up.........
Alexis Arguello vs. Julio Ceasar Chavez at 135.
12 rounds.
Fight is held at Ceasars Palace

I posted this match-up as it's own thread, only recently, in fact. I took Arguello at Lightweight, via close decision. I think he would make a pizza out of Chavez's face, but absorb a lot of punishment with that high, lean mid-section of his. Chavez would surely test it.
Arguello MD12 Chavez.
Kostya Tszyu vs. Meldrick Taylor, 12 rounds at Jr. Welter, of course...

Tszyu by UD
Next, as lots of people mentioned it in a different thread, Joe Louis vs. Sonny Liston

Louis wins a close Majority decision. Both guys have there moments.
Jack Johnson vs Gene Tunney 15 rounds both in top form.

Good call & hard to gauge as both were master boxers & great defensive specialists.
I'm inclined to think that Jack Johnson might just have too much for Tunney & would probably have won via a close 15 round decision, with no knockdowns.
Michael Moorer -v- Matthew Saad Muhammad at light heavyweight?

thought long and hard about this but tunney wins a SD over JJ.
no knockdowns. enthralling technical and tactical fight.
moorer UD over saad muhammad.

Quarry beats Beshore via decision
Jerry Evans vs Bob Foster, 15 rounds

the fight that never was

seemingly a race to connect with a big one between these two but foster proves he is ring smarter than jerry.
evans rocks bob with his bombs early on but foster jabs the fight out of evans by 7 and the ref rescues the byrdstown boy in the next.
foster RSF 8
mickey walker v jake la motta - the garden (middleweight championship of the world)

LaMotta Wins by MD in a 12 rounder.
LaMotta Wins by Close but UD in a 15 Rounder.

Mathew Hilton vs. John Duddy 12 Rounds.

Posted: 15 Apr 2008, 16:41
by HomicideHenry
They both suck, but since I am a Duddy fan, though he really isnt that good, I'll pick Ireland's John Duddy to win the fight via decision; if he couldn't put away Yory Boy Campas, he won't put away Hilton either.
Scott LeDoux vs Randall Tex Cobb, 10 rounds
Posted: 15 Apr 2008, 17:30
by harrygreb
another battle of the bangers. cobb wastes no time in taking the fight to ledoux.
3 rounds of blitzkreig warfare ends with ledoux fast asleep for more than the 10 count
stanley ketchell v sam langford - the rematch over 15 rounds with a panel of judges picked from the 1970's era

by HomicideHenry
Mmmm...an interesting affair...I love Ketchell, and believe there was no harder hitting middleweight ever, with the possible exception of Fitzsimmons...but his uneducated, mile wide, looping punches I can't see really being able to decision possibly the greatest fighter of all time. I see Ketchell losing a decision.
Jake LaMotta vs Joe Calzaghe, super middleweight, 12 rounds

Posted: 15 Apr 2008, 18:31
by Goodnight, Irene
LaMotta in nine. Don't get me wrong, Calzaghe's a great fighter who, IMO, doesn't get his due from the American fight public (who can be pretty damn ethocentric, at times, see: Lennox Lewis), but LaMotta is a different animal.
Joe's tough, has a dependable chin, great handspeed & is a competent tactician --- I just don't think he'd respond well enough to LaMotta's pressure. A game Calzaghe is stopped on his feet, though he may've previously tasted the canvas as a result of LaMotta's vaunted body assault.
Lou Ambers vs Floyd Mayweather at Lightweight.
Posted: 15 Apr 2008, 18:43
by Robinson
I think Mayweather outpoints Ambers. In an even early on fight. Ambers finds it hard to land solid shots on PBF. Mayweathers counters take there toll as the rounds go into the bank for him.
Johnny Summerlin Vs Hasim Rahman, 10 rounds both in shape fighting for a shot at the title.

Apart from the early-career setback against Bascom, Summerlin was only once beaten inside the distance, & that was at the end of his career against the heavy-handed Valdes, in spite of two meetings with Liston. Rahman had some strong performances, most of them ended in defeat.
Rahman on points for me in a wretched match-up. Very ugly.
Mickey Walker vs. Wilfred Benitez, Welterweight, 15 rounds.
Posted: 16 Apr 2008, 05:51
by harrygreb
benitez looks ripped and ready at 147lbs, walker looks tight at the weight.
wilfredo builds a good early lead and has it in the bag when he is doubled up by a borderline shot from walker in the 7th. he goes down and his corner spill out on to the ring claiming a low blow. they are furious and there is mayhem. the referee has lost control and benitez gets to his feet. amid the confusion the ref has a conversation with officials at ringside.
its decided to allow the fight to continue.
walker mounts another attack of mostly body assaults but benitez hangs on and makes it through the rest of the bout.
the record books merely show...Benitez UD.

ross shows just what a ring genius he is as he forces the ref to stop the contest in the 15th and last round. benitez was in the fight until ross had a great 9th almost decking wilfredo with accurate lefts and rights of considerable power.

I think that Ken Buchanan wins this one by razor thin UD.
8)
Canzoneri puts on alot of pressure and has quite a few moments but Ken simply outworks em and pulls off the close decision win because of his better overall punch/connect rate. The jab is a huge factor on Ken's behalf.
Jerry Quarry vs. Rex Layne at Cruiserweight.
15 Rounds.
No 3 knockdown rule.
50's style Ref.Doesnt stop fights.

Quarry stops Layne late in a bruising affair. Both men hit the ground running, & the canvas early, & blood oozes throughout.
Esteban DeJesus vs. Shane Mosley at Lightweight, twelve rounds.
Posted: 17 Apr 2008, 02:04
by I Feel Fine
I'll say Mosley by MD. It would be by far the toughest fight he had at Lightweight, and he could lose, but I'll give him the edge.
Ezzard Charles vs. Max Schmeling
Posted: 17 Apr 2008, 04:16
by Robinson
Charles is to slick and smooth on his feet for Schmelling.
Max wins the middle rounds, but from 8 to 15 its Charles landing good body shots and a sly jab that determines the score.
Charles UD 15.
Tommy Farr Vs Henry Cooper 15 rounds for the Lonsdale belt.
Posted: 17 Apr 2008, 10:08

cracking british dust up. farr wins the first two rounds, cooper the next two. farr then steps it up and with greater mobility dominates the fight.
cooper is cut in the 8th round and presses forward but apart from henry clearly winning the 10th farr is a worthy winner.
