Regardless of who said what prior to the fights, I fail to understand how Hatton's loss to Mayweather was embarrassing. He made it competitive for a large part of the fight against a boxer at the peak of his powers and generally considered the best boxer in the world.

If Lockett's loss was being described at embarrassing, yes, I could understand that becuase he got brushed aside with Pavlik hardly breaking sweat.

Some of the comments on this thread have been ridiculous. Floyd Mayweather is a level above any other fighter today and Hatton's loss was not as embarrassing as people make out.

Look at what he did to Corrales for example. A world class fighter who was knocked down again and again.

Ricky was competitive for the first 3/4 rounds.

i think ricky himself is embarrassed by the nature of his loss to mayweather

let's not forget that the fight ended with him falling over and the ref stopping proceedings

that's how badly beaten he was

Quite a lot of fights have ended that way, it's called being knocked out

he moved away from the ropes and fell over, there was no punch involved

his legs were gone from the first knockdown, the stoppage was always coming once the ref let the fight continue and I think that left hook which sent him reeling into the ropes finished him off

Hatton was soundly beaten by the best fighter of his generation. He was above his best weight division, and against, I'll repeat it, the best fighter of his generation.

At least he had the guts to give it a go, unlike plenty of others.

I would hate for Hatton to go in with Cintron. If Kermit was a decent sized 140lb'er then Hatton would have a massive chance as he has a decent chin. But going off Hatton's two fights at welter it doesn't bode well - it just seems like he struggles against bigger/more natural at the weight (147lbs) fighters. If I had to pick a verdict of this hypothetical fight then I would have to go with Cintron breaking Hatton down for a 5th or 6th round stoppage. Now bare in mind that I love Hatton so there's no bias in my opinion at all.
