Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
I’ve never liked the Eubank/Benn fight. Too big of a weight jump for Benn.
Benn/Barrios would be a good fight. I do think Conor needs a tougher test before that though as he hasn’t been active.

Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
It's been updated with no appeal from UKAD. But can't say why unless Benn agrees

Ukad will not appeal Benn suspension being lifted
Conor Benn's hopes of returning to the ring in Britain moved a step closer as a result of UK Anti-Doping's decision not to appeal his suspension being lifted.
The 28-year-old had his British licence revoked in 2022 by the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) after two failed drugs tests in the lead up to his cancelled fight against Chris Eubank Jr.
The suspension was lifted earlier this month, with Ukad saying the National Anti-Doping Panel was "not comfortably satisfied" it and the BBBofC had proved he had committed an anti-doping rule violation.
Ukad was given 21 days to appeal but the organisation has decided against doing so.
Following the decision, the BBBofC also confirmed, external it would not be lodging an appeal.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) has a separate period in which it can appeal.
The 28-year-old, who has an unbeaten 23-0 record in the welterweight division, tested positive for women's fertility drug Clomifene.
Benn, who has not fought in Britain since April 2022, has always denied doping and said he had been "cleared of any wrongdoing" when his suspension was lifted.
He has fought twice since his suspension, but both fights - victories against Rodolfo Orozco in September 2023 and Peter Dobson in February 2024 - were in the United States.
Benn is now free to resume his fighting career in the UK and plans to reschedule a bout with Eubank Jr.
Both fighters' teams are pushing for the contest and the preference is for it to take place in the UK rather than in Saudi Arabia.

Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
Listening to Gareth A, there's a lot of stuff that may or may not come out. What I find really strange is that the guy who did the test said the substance wasn't administered. Surely that should have made a difference to proceedings.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑28 Nov 2024, 11:26 Ukad will not appeal Benn suspension being lifted

Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
I imagine UKAD are happy enough. He hasn’t fought in this country for over 2 years which is what the likely ban would have been.
Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
Eubank looked as drained as any fighter I've ever seen, if they'd have fought at the time Benn would have been at a massive advantage.maverick23 wrote: ↑28 Nov 2024, 06:27 I’ve never liked the Eubank/Benn fight. Too big of a weight jump for Benn .
Agreed though , it's a nonsense fight really and a cash grab .
Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
You know i would'nt be suprised if it did NOT come off , Originally it was a bullshit fight a roided up agro Benn versus a weight drained half dead Eubank and a big cash out , After he got his arse smacked for eating eggs or whatever , Benn was keen on it when he had no where to go and it was his last hooray at a big payday .
Fast forward a couple years , Eubank is not prepared to weight drain and go in looking like skelator ,, and Benn loks like he is gonna get given the OK to fight again , so i will not be suprised if it does'nt go on , , Benn without the eggs , fighting a strong Eubank , just does'nt compute , , Benn i think will go back to fighting area level losers , weight drained old ex champs , whilst all the time he shouts he wants Boots , Crawford , Usyk and any one else who he thinks may get him publicity , .
But i doubt very much we will see him in with anyone good , , Hearn will keep him winning he'll wants his investment back

It's not a great matchup and it typifies a lot of things that are wrong with our sport. Would I watch it? 100% yes.

One of the most exciting fighters in Britain
Fully cleared and exonerated
The kid wants to fight Barrios for the WBC world title and I think he can beat him
Imagine that at a sold out O2 - massive massive fight
Sadly these aren’t my words but the words of our most successful and influential fight promoter who’ll probably be able to make it happen

Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
Chris Mannix on his podcast was saying that Conor’s manager Keith somebody believes that if Conor beats Barrios then that will lead to a mega fight with Tank in 2025
Seems a bit far fetched. I like Mannix but the suspicion persists that on occasion he says whatever Eddie wants him to say when discussing matchroom fighters

Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
You can look at all this shite , shake your head in amazement , and think what the hell are they on about , THEN you sit think about it and come up with the answer , Manager .... PERCENTAGE , bENN HAS GOT A COUPLE OF BIG FIGHTS IN HIM FOR BIG MONEY ,CaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑16 Dec 2024, 01:09 Chris Mannix on his podcast was saying that Conor’s manager Keith somebody believes that if Conor beats Barrios then that will lead to a mega fight with Tank in 2025

There is no way they'll even put him in with Barrios, let alone Tank. It's Jr all the way. Benn isn't very good.

People have seem to forgotten, amongst all the headlines, that Benn might not actually be very good.mickey1975 wrote: ↑16 Dec 2024, 06:55 There is no way they'll even put him in with Barrios, let alone Tank. It's Jr all the way. Benn isn't very good.
A lot of noise around a fighter not yet proven at domestic level.

I agree, he's not beaten a decent live opponent, it's his dads name and having a big promoter that's getting him the opportunitiesFrostieballs wrote: ↑16 Dec 2024, 10:30People have seem to forgotten, amongst all the headlines, that Benn might not actually be very good.mickey1975 wrote: ↑16 Dec 2024, 06:55 There is no way they'll even put him in with Barrios, let alone Tank. Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
Have i missed something , i hav'nt heard of him lined up for a fight yet , i assume if he is allowed to fight he would , so if theres no fight for him it leads me to assume
1---- He;s not been cleared to fight ....0r
2 ----- There having trouble finding an old worn out , past it lightweight , who still has a name they can sell . , , so the merry go round will continue ,, he'll call out Bots , and every other name , but Hearn is still on the phone to Australia , trying to get Fenech out of retirement

Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
It was a weak ban that really only served as an inconvenience. Making him have to fight his cans in America, or anywhere other than the UK. And now he can fight back in Blighty.coneye wrote: ↑03 Jan 2025, 14:44 Have i missed something , i hav'nt heard of him lined up for a fight yet , i assume if he is allowed to fight he would , so if theres no fight for him it leads me to assume
