I agree. This wasn't just a Kessler win, but a Calzaghe win. For Joe this will justify not fighting Froch. He can sit back in the knowledge that he beat Mikkel and Froch didn't and then he can get stuck back into whatever he has been doing with his retirement, i wonder what that is?

Pesonally (minus the hand problems of course) Calzaghe would have schooled every fighter in this tournament - he had the speed, workrate and ring craft needed to beat each fighter.

I scored this fight 114-114 as well, and I'm not even a fan of Froch. It was a close fight with many close rounds.

i think there was a few close rds that i scored 10-10 , which caused me to give it to kessler by a round so i can certainly see how it can be considered a draw and i agree with froch that in nottingham he might have won it , the crowd play a big part , the close rounds would have been scored in kesslers favour rather than 10-10 due to the reaction to punches even if missed , the same would have happened in nottingham with froch getting the decision , and id still not consider it a robberry , but id say it would be unfortunate .

I didnt score it,but thought Kessler won by a good few.I remember thinking in round 10,when the commentators said "hes closing the gap",he needs a knockout.There was nothing hometown about it.At all.

But to keep the option open of a wild score card Rawling crazily added "from a danish perspective". and it was him, whether intentionally or not, started this debate of Froch winning if this was in Nottingham.

I Predicted this months before the tournament started on boxrec....ward is a class apart and the one man from the whole tournament i think would have beaten Calzaghe...i couldn't say that for any of the other 5 boxers.

ive only seen ward in his win over what now looks to have been a bad night for kessler , so i cannot say that i agree nor disagree , ive not seen enough of him to judge , but i still think its gonna be a froch v kessler final , i said it from the start , ive not seen anything to change my mind , as no other fighter has been a shining star yet , maybe ward might impress me if he performs well again in his next outing , i might then re evaluate it .
as for abraham ive never been a fan , i know hes effective but i dont see him going to the final , if my guess of froch reacjhing the final happens though it would mean froch having to beat abraham in august , fingers crossed as it would be a shame for british boxing if froch is eliminated in the first stages.

I have to say, I'm glad I couldn't understand the commentary. It does affect you, whether you want it to or not.

To be fair to Froch, I would have had it as a draw if that knockdown in the fifth had counted. Kessler certainly answered all the critics today, though.

bollox mate , you cant judge how good someone is one fight , yes he did win easilly but how do you know thta maybe kessler was on a really bad night and therfor had nothing to do with how good ward is , as i said , ill reserve my judgement until ive seen him fight again

Yeah, Froch didn't actually hit Kessler at all during that incident. Going by that logic, Kessler could claim 'knockdowns' in the other 11 rounds.

Agreed....but to be fair i've seen about 10 of wards fights so have always known he's a very special fighter.

This is what i wrote about Ward before the Tournament started:

This whole tournament was set up by Showtime for Andre Ward and he has the Skills to win it

WARD is going to beat Kessler by around 8 rds to 4.

Anyone with fast hands and good foot movement like Calzaghe and to a lesser extent Mundine will always give Kessler problems and unlike Dirrel, Ward can be still be exciting and defensive at the same time

In his 2nd fight Ward will then force Taylor/Green to retire by around the 10th rd

He faces his toughest test in his 3rd fight against Dirrel due to being matched in speed and movement but Ward is just better and will win by around 7 rds to 5 although it could even be a Split/majority decision victory

In the Semi's he may face Froch who he'll beat in a similar but much more exciting version then Dirrel put on against Froch and win around 9 rds to 3

If he faces Abraham in the final, Ward would soundly outbox him for all 12 rds but at any time especially late be KO'd by Arthur's one punch power but i doubt Andre will allow this to happen and wins it by 8 rds to 4 and therefore become the Super Six Tournament winner.

thats all well and good and im not saying your wrong , but i dont think its fair i jump on his bandwagon on the basis of one fight , im not one for believing hype , i make up my own mind , you could be bang on the money , who knows , but after ive seen his next fight ill decide how good i think he is .

I make my own mind up,and am convinced Ward and Dirrel are the best fighters in the tournament.Ward will win.And i have watched him since the Olympics,mate

Yeah kessler was rusty as hell it was like watching another fighter - he hadnt had a competative fight (well one if you count it but it wasnt competative) since haussler nearly 2 years ago.

Not to downgrade ward, but i think they will meet again in the final and we'll get to see a much better fight.

Dirrell wont make it to the final he's already had a loss and wont beat ward, and his chances of getting a win by ko dont look great.
